Note to self: Avoid tempting fate by discussing promotion chances. A tough season that saw me escape relegation back to the despairing depths of the Brazilian 3rd Division with a draw on the last day of the season after two dramatic away wins brought me back from the dead. Phew! I switched tactics a couple of times during the season but struggled to be consistent - mainly due to my abject lack of class at this level, I think.
I decide much squad strengthening is required for next season and choose not to deploy about £80,000 of my transfer funds, so only three new players join - a midfielder who is inconsistent, a striker who can't get near the side yet (he's young, but I'm thinking I signed him in desperation) and a young full back.
Standings:
Goias State Champs: 6th, with a new plan of keeping my main players fresh i just played my reserves who took me to the first round of the playoffs and no further. Fair play, but the tactic won't be repeated as I started so slowly in the second division...
2nd Division: 22nd, and it couldn't have been much closer to 23rd and out... nasty!
Average Attendance (calendar year 05): 11,116
Financial Status: Just over a million in the black. Result.
