Ok, Its taken a while for my first update post and here it is. Appologies for grammatical errors or spelling.
Decided to start in the Conference South league and having a look at the names I picked Bognor Regis, purely on the strength that I had THE hottest kebab in my life there! Seemed good reasoning at the time until I was hired as manager.
I arrived to find 1 GK, 1 SC, 1ML, 1MR, 2MCs and 8 Defenders :eek:. Back room staff were working double shifts at McDonalds, all three of them. No money, no transfer fees and 1.9k pw wages.
Expectations were to rebuild squad etc., which I did slowly. Apparently the lure of adult fun, beaches and killer kebabs is not enough for most people, and I managed to sign 8 freebies out of a possible 70/80 attempted
I wasnt aware that rebuilding the squad was a lower expectation that relegation battlers.
Anyway, stats were as follows:

P42 W11 D6 L25 F50 A80 -30 Pts 39
This was the first season in any game ever without promotion! Sexy football is not the way forward in Bognor. Also managed to go 2k pw over budget
Finished the season in 19th place securing safety with 1 game to go. Close shave although I was in 7th place in December before losing 10 games straight( still currently a league record )

Can't wait for the update. Bognor were my first team when FM2005 came out so I have a bit of a soft spot for them. You did better than I did first season.
Am I missing something here? Where did you find 70/80 free transfers without using the Transfer Lists? Or is this allowed for this purpose?
My scouts have very rarely returned out of contract players as in theory they would not be playing therefore unscoutable!
I don't use the transfer lists and I'd expect it shouldn't be used in this way. Depending on how many scouts he has unleashed, it is possible to turn up somewhere close to that many freebies over the course of a season. I agree though it seems like a high number out of context.
As the clan knows, I signed about 5 or so freebies on my first day back to the sessions after my scout had been hunting for about a month. That was only the players 4 stars and above I had the chance to click on and offer to. There were plenty others as well.
