Personally I think the staff poaching needs toning down a fair bit.
I played a game as West Ham and my one and only good coach (Miklosko: Goal Keeper Coach) got approached and signed by Man City.
Not only is it unrealistic - Miklosko was a former West Ham player, Man City aren't a significantly more attractive club etc, - but Man City already have a better Goal Keeper Coach!
The exact same transfer occurred in another game where I was managed of a different club.
In FM07, a had a first-rate scout who admittedly was too good for my non-league club, however he signed a new 4-year contract for me, then was approached by a Championship club later that day. Two days later he'd gone and I got a piddly £4k compensation!
The latter scenario really annoyed me 'cos to sign him back meant that I would have to pay £22k compensation (if he'd been interested)! - (I know how the game works staff compensation out, but this just proves how wrong it is).
A few seasons later he has a few weeks left on his contract at that club now in League Two, but he's still not remotely interested in joining me even though I'm now in the Championship!
In fact, I've never managed to re-sign a former member of staff.
Understandable perhaps if I'd sacked them, but not so understandable if they left for other reasons.
I've also never managed to sign a member of staff that has signed for a club in the last 6 months or so, 'cos they're "happy at their ne club".
This has even been the case when I've been at an EPL club chasing a lower league club. Make me even more bitter about losing that scout two days after he signed a new contract for me!
Existing staff also seem to demand huge pay rises when their contracts need renwing, whereas signing staff with several years left on their contracts at other clubs can usually be done for about the same wages as they are already on!
