Head Honcho is infamous around these parts
Default Help! The opposition is raiding my youth coaches.

I started a new game with Man Utd. Other teams are raiding all of my excellent youth coaches. In the first few weeks I am getting multiple messages that Team X is bidding for the services of my Youth Coach Y. I attempt to thwart this by offering an extension of the Y's contract and accepting his demands for the extension. Invariably, Y leaves me to take a position as coach at Team X. I check and Team X is paying Y an exorbitant salary that is way higher than other staff members of X and sometimes even greater than the manager of X.

One of my youth coaches got an annual salary weith another team of 1 million US dollars.

This all seems unrealistic. How do I handle this problem?

Personally I think the staff poaching needs toning down a fair bit.

I played a game as West Ham and my one and only good coach (Miklosko: Goal Keeper Coach) got approached and signed by Man City.
Not only is it unrealistic - Miklosko was a former West Ham player, Man City aren't a significantly more attractive club etc, - but Man City already have a better Goal Keeper Coach!
The exact same transfer occurred in another game where I was managed of a different club.

In FM07, a had a first-rate scout who admittedly was too good for my non-league club, however he signed a new 4-year contract for me, then was approached by a Championship club later that day. Two days later he'd gone and I got a piddly £4k compensation!

The latter scenario really annoyed me 'cos to sign him back meant that I would have to pay £22k compensation (if he'd been interested)! - (I know how the game works staff compensation out, but this just proves how wrong it is).
A few seasons later he has a few weeks left on his contract at that club now in League Two, but he's still not remotely interested in joining me even though I'm now in the Championship!

In fact, I've never managed to re-sign a former member of staff.
Understandable perhaps if I'd sacked them, but not so understandable if they left for other reasons.

I've also never managed to sign a member of staff that has signed for a club in the last 6 months or so, 'cos they're "happy at their ne club".
This has even been the case when I've been at an EPL club chasing a lower league club. Make me even more bitter about losing that scout two days after he signed a new contract for me!

Existing staff also seem to demand huge pay rises when their contracts need renwing, whereas signing staff with several years left on their contracts at other clubs can usually be done for about the same wages as they are already on!

Yeah, this ****es me off so much its untrue. Like when you approach other clubs coaches and it says stuff like "it would take a ridiculous amount of money for them to even consider". Why don't they have the same kind of loyalty to me!!!!! Makes me so angry.

Also when you try to stop them leaving by offering them another contract and they reject saying they wouldn't accept such a paltry offer then join another club for less money a week! Its such a joke.

1. Offer your coach a new contract, and he will probably stay with you.

2. Keep your coaches on long contracts. This way the compensation fee will be so big that some teams will shy away, or you'll make a decent amount of money to easily replace the coach with money to spare.

Offer your youth coach a regular coach contract. He'll ask for more money than a youth coach contract, but it will be "a step up" so your chances of keeping him are higher.

First I lost Tony Whelan to Wigan. They are paying him as a coach $475k per year. The Wigan manager only makes 400k and the Assistant Mgr $150k.

Next I lost Eric Harrison to Aston Villa. They are paying Harrison as a coach $1,000,000 per year as a coach. The Manager makes 2.5 mil and the Assistant 1.5 mil per year.

The next team to come knocking was Preston from the Championship League. They were after Malvey. I offered him an extension at 400K per year and he did sign with me, but I had no way of knowing what Preston was offering.

All of this seems way out of line.
