Chinese soccer league ruling champion Dalian Shide signed a package deal with the English Premiership club Newcastle Saturday in Shanghai in a bid to grab more market shares abroad.
The package, titled "Northeast--Far East Plan", will help Shide extend its business operation outside of China while enhancing Newcastle's efforts to expand its market share in the Far East.
The two clubs will join hands in such fields as design and construction of stadiums, sponsorship, licensing operation in Australian soccer league, setup of fans database, Internet, broadcasting right, merchandise sales, friendlies and exchange of players.
Under the plan, An Qi, Chinese goalkeeper of Shide, will go to Newcastle for a trial at the end of this year, and Newcastle's first-choice team will visit Dalian next summer.
Players will be exchanged between them annually and Dalian will build a soccer-only court with a 60,000 capacity.
Shide President Xu Ming said at today's signing ceremony that in view of long-term development, the Chinese football should integrate itself with the world and increase its scale in operation.
"This plan will speed up the process of Dalian integrating with international soccer so that we could conduct business on a higher basis."
From the reading of this article I don't think the nature of the link is a feeder club - parent club situation. They seem to be considered partners in various fields. While it mentioned that the GK AnQi would go to Newcastle for a trial, obviously there was no outcome as AnQi has left Dalian and is now with a relegation threatened team in china. There has also been no exchange of players that I am aware of.
