At start of second season with The Hammers with a miserly transfer budget of 6 million.
It's getting frustrating because I can't unload player I want to get rid of but have about 8 players that I don't want to get rid of wnated by other Clubs.
First time I get an enquiry on how much I want for player x I say I don't want to sell him. This then makes the player sulk because I won't let him talk to that Club.
So now a Club makes an enquiry on how much I want for that player I tell them an amount way over the odds and they back off. This way the player doesn't get upset it seems....so far!
Does this work in the long run or will Al keep on coming back?

lol, AI will keep coming back to you.... it ****es people off... also make sure when a club BIDS read the bottom if it says something like *x player wishes to talk with x club* accept the bid otherwise the player will become unhappy, just accept and when agreed cancel the transfer, this works

When a team bids for one of my players and I negotiate the offer the player often gets upset because I am not allowing him to move. But if I am negotiating then surely that is a sign that I am willing to let the player leave - rather than just reject the offer.

A harsh reflection of players in real terms I think.
I'll try to keep hold of my better players as long as I can, offering new contracts, changing their role to something like key player, praising them repeatedly etc...
Unfortunately though, some players just are'nt very loyal and eventually it's just a case of selling them to the highest bidder and have done with them.

The best thing to do with any players that are interesting other clubs that you want to keep is to set their value to some exorbitent figure i.e. if the player's current value is £5m then set it to £15m. It will scare off the interested clubs for sure.
