If I'm a Blue Square south/north team, is it better to draw big name teams at home or play them on the road if I want to generate more revenue from a loss?
Being a yank, I've been following Havant's miracle run and they've been all over it on Sky via satellite. It seems like IRL clubs generate more revenue from an away tie against a big club instead of winning and moving on to the next round playing ties against teams with a lower reputation.
How does this work in-game, especially on 08?

I believe its modelled correctly in game, each team gets 45% of the revenue (with the other 10% going to the FA). From a financial standpoint then, its obviously much better to get a tie away at a team with a much bigger stadium, youre going to get far more for 20,30000 attendance than you are if you sell our your home 6000 seater.

What Oktober said, the gate money is split. So as long as there is a decent crowd at the away match, you'll get more money. Depends who you're playing against though. Goes without saying if it's a sizeable Premier League team, away is the drawn you want from a financial point of view.
Get a Championship team or lower and depending who it is, you might even get a bigger crowd at home.
Take Havant as an example... there was only about 4000 at the Notts County match if I remember correctly.

i might be wrong, they olny got £200,000 i mean their not going to buy a new player with that and some of our players are only on about £100 a week and have'nt been paid for 8 weeks, its not the players fault that we are in this position and the board members involved have been sacked.
just makes me laugh because they get funny about that sort of amount then they will go splash 5 million on a player.

I thought I'd read that happening a couple times, and was sort of surprised Chasetown played at home against Cardiff instead of away.
Or am I just confused?
This used to happen a fair bit; clubs would claim that they couldn't handle the security arrangements, so would ask the FA if they could swap to being the away team. However, it is not really in the spirit of a random knockout cup, and the FA are now very anti it so point blank refuse any club that asks now.

True, but then it's not Liverpool's fault either.

Ahhh, thanks Sten! One of those things that, being American, I was missing.
I've learned so much more about the game from posters on this forum than anywhere else..
