Thats beside the point. He said I might not be playing at home. Please feel free to muse over my other conscise and valid (dare i say genious) points and remark in here somewhat vaguely in connection.

| I do accept your other points as reasonably valid. However, this one stuck in my craw because it was so far removed from reality.
I agree with you about team reputation not keeping pace with the reality of the squads. Blackburn could win the Champions League and still not be classed as a big club, which is a major problem. OK, they're not a glamour club which should give Arsenal, Manchester United, Real Madrid a slight advantage, but you can count on one hand the amount of clubs that have that sort of reputation world wide.
However, you seemed to imply earlier on that because you have undersoil heating you shouldn't need to change your tactics at home. I disagree - strongly. And I think that's relevant.

Ok Millie I agree I was a bit extreme.
I just dont like how if I like to play short passing quick tempo football I should be punished by the weather. Firstly Englands winter is very dry it is the summer season that is wet. And Arsenal play short football.
Its not like its the 1970s with mud everywhere and an orange football.
Also A slick wet pitch is ideal for short passing aslong as the turf is springy enough to resume its state when studs press in.
This is from a Blackburn Fan and we are blessed with a good pitch. The groundsman winning many awards. I agree Chelseas pitch was terrible last year. The person in charge should be sacked. But all he kept doing was piling on more sand and then stuck a thin strip of top layer on the top which got tore to shreds. Utd had the same problem a few years back.
I also believe that I shouldnt change tactics in a gale. Its not like my players are going to hoof a ball in the air that high or are playing golf! Sure the the ball may move slightly a foot or two in either direction for long balls but my players can cope by moving thier feet in anticipation>
The only effect gale conditions could effect a game is visibility and in such circumstances i advise the referee to call the game off.

Anyway beside you two kissing and making up (millie and matt uk) after Dayle's points I thought bugger it, I'll just carry on we Brits don't give up.
Took the day off work, and read through wwfans "roo rot info" , and downloaded the set of tactics and what a turnaround, I think the second match I hammered Swindon 6-1 (Sorry all swindon fans)my striker who has not scored all season scored a hat-trick, and things are looking peachy, i'm not saying its perfect but its more consistant.
The one thing I found I was lacking in my tactics was I would never have dreamed of pushing the defence line as far up as far as the roo rot tactics.
I've got to say a big thanks to Dayle, for kicking my ass, wwfan for all the hard graft he does, Ashyr as he his "what works for me helped loads", a bloody yank to boot, what do they know about "the beautiful game" more than me obviously.Anyway I couldn't find my 05/06 disc. Thanks all

| I'm glad you have turned the corner.
You will start to experience the limitations of the RoO sets the further you improve. Scoring becomes difficult once teams begin to park the bus, but all is not lost. A few logical tweaks (uncheck counter-attack, shorter passing DCs, FWRs higher on FBs) sort it out. I am now using a playmaker/tragetman combo at home (both unchecked but listed) and the quality of football is outstanding. Still use the away tactics pretty much as is though, although I have increases the forward runs for the FCR.
Remember that these tactics are just a base and are supposed to be tweaked for sepcific players. If you have speedster dribblers whack RWB to the max, creative passers TTB etc. TDon't get frustrated if/when they start to loose their teeth, just look to the obvious and they will continue to work.

cheers wwfan, funnily enough thats how whooped Swindon 6-1 tweaked the d line down a bit, and unticked the counter attack, and i couldn't believe how I blitzed them.
The only thing I'm kind of struggling with is all the swopping of the midfielders as I only have a small squad and find my decent dmc going down the wing and I know he is not going to do a lot, and thus in the swop it leaves my amc sitting in front of my 2 DCs and he hasn't a hope of stopping a quick counter attack, due to dmc that is going down the wing losing the ball. Does it mess up that tactic if I put them on none ( as in dont swop over)but ww if I'm grateful for all the info you have given me, taa

In my RoO the only two that should swap are the two MCs. I found it to be advantageous at the time due to the player types I had, but it became annoying as post substitution I used to see the same problem you are experiencing. I turned it off once I had more specific players for the roles with no reduction in performance.

| I'd just like to reiterate what wwfan has said to some extent.... If you use his tactics you have to bear in mind that your team will be different to his so therefore you have to make tweaks here and there.
For example if he has an AMC making long shots make sure you AMC is capable of firing in long shots otherwise you should downgrade that instruction accordingly.
Same with rubbing with ball (dribbling) creative freedom (creativity) and so on. |

Geee dayle you scared me for a few scarey seconds I thought we were going into cricket. but I know were you are coming from, I know now I have to change the individual player attributes.
Oh and the other thing I've always done is always put the team passing, width and pace on the same on the slider, now looking at wwfans tactics you don't have to,as how I've read it from varies people, that these 3 work together or I'm not reading it properly.
