Yes I agree tactics are very important. This was a trick point to get you to agree with me.

1st game i did nothing. 2nd game i went from Home tactic to Away. 3rd game i Killed the game completely.

Try adopting this:

In-Match tactical considerations

1. Check what your possession is like after 10 minutes. It should be at least 53%... This means you are controlling the game. If it gets to 55% in favour of the AI it means your tactic is not working and you need to make changes sooner rather than later.

Switch from your home to your away tactic if this is the case and vice versa if you are playing away.

2. Take stock of the situation at half time? Are you winning? If you are and possession is good stay with what you are doing.
If you are behind look at your squad and see if there are any weak spots... Someone with a 5 or 4 would be a good candidate to sub out at this time.

3. The 60 minute mark is another time to take stock of your situation. Even if you have to pause the game momentarily to check possession and players health do so and if need be make necessary substitutons. Always try to leave one sub on the bench in case of an injury and make sure you use your other subs thoughtfully.

4. At the 70th minute of a game switch over to the formation page and look at what the AI's formation is. If you are winning by a goal this is a crucial step as from anytime from now onwards the AI is likely to change to a 4-2-4.
As SOON AS YOU SEE THIS you need to make a tactical change yourself... a shut up shop response... I personally recommend the shut up shop tactic that can be found in here:

This is an excellent counter attacking tactic created by 'The Next Diaby'. It maintains an extrememely defensive mentality but also counterattcks the weaknesses of a 4-2-4 and will often snatch you goals.

5. If you get to the 75th minute and are trailing by 1 or 2 goals then it is time to get serious and full on attack. You have nothing to lose so launch a 4-2-4 against the AI. The best I have seen that implement this is WWfans Bludgeon tactic here:

You don't need to tweak this just change to it and hope for the best. I find it has about a 50% success rate which is better than just giving up and losing.
The important thing to remember is that if you score you need to look at what the AI does in repsonse. If he doesn't respond stay on it and look for a winner. If however he changes to a 4-2-4 tactic then you need to also change immediately to the shut up shop tactic which is your best chance at holding out for a draw or even sneaking a winner.

6. At the end of the game look at your possession and shots on target. At least 53% possession is what you want to see and hopefully this translates into shots on goal.

I hope this helps you. I use this strategy and have lots of success withit. I have started games with 45% and a goal down very quickly but have ended up tactically outclassing my opponant by acting and reacting to the situation and not just being a passive watcher of it.

Now thats a good team. Its my favourite ever. It is made with no budget for 2 seasons. But I struggle every match changing to home tactics away tactics attacking away tactics. I have tried Fuss which was poor. Crazy tactics which were inconsistent. And others like Deyonkey which tbh was terrible.

With this team i won the league in the first season easily. I played Fuss without changing it for any match. I hate this team. Its so rubbish. Yet I won and clicked continue, Pat Rice doing team talks.

So what Im saying is I hate the handicap on small clubs that have to tip thier hat to media predictions. While the big clubs is soooo easy. Tactics dont come into it.

Thank you for the tactics that you have offered me. Thing is after Looking at the tactics on this forum I find them all of the same mentality. They all attack slightly at home with slow passing. Away they defend and counter.

Do you know of any tactics which play fast football with a pushed up back four. Atm Im testing at tactic in a game with a friend for Liverpool.

4-1-3-1-1. It has no wingers to cross to defenders. Has defence pushed up with offside trap and tight marking. Hard tackling in key areas. and plays up the middle. Can you tell me what might be wrong with this. Im on a 10 game winning streak but most my goals are on the break. Do you know any 4 4 2 or 4 3 3 which have the same kind of play but are better tested?

What is your possession like in your games? Dominating possession is the first step you need to acheive and from there it is simply a matter of finetuning your shots on goal until they are quality goal making efforts and not just flying left right and centre.

People that play one tactic home and away and never deviate from it are usually playing with the Barcelonas and Chelsea side etc etc.

But for the rest of the time with normal sides you cannot just rely on one tactic-suits-all mentality. Not saying YOU are but there are plenty of people still looking about for the Super tactics and the game just isn't like that anymore.

I recommend this: A home tactic which is attacking in nature, possession dominating and allows few chances for the AI.

An away attacking tactic. Not defensive but certainly more respectful of your opponants.

These are your two main tactics. There will be times when you need to change from one to the other becuase the side you are playing against is playing in a manner you hadn't predicted.

The other things you need to know to avoid late losses is how to counter the 4-2-4 and how to implement your own 4-2-4 when you are desperate.

The links above provide two great examples of these which you should consider using. Simply switching from your home to your away tactic is not the answer to combatting the 4-2-4. This is a specific tactic and must be answered with a very specific tactic.

You are saying that you are not happy defending away and I assume from that you want to be more attacking. You do not necessarily have to play short at home and direct away. Try, when making your tactic, to consider mixed in the middle for tempo and width. People seem to always pick one of the extremes and don't consider this.

Anyway if you are having specific problems with your tactic feel free to ask questions and I am more than happy (as are most of the more expeorienced people on here) to help.

I have about on average 15 shots a game and only about 4 on target. Fortunately enough are going in to win matches. Also I drew with Arsenal at home in europe and I admit I was lucky)

For my everton at home I had 57% possession and won 2 0. Away its even 50 50 %.

I try and test with Liverpool. They have a good squad and win alot of games. But have testing ties too.

I agree with your point that Home and Away tactics are needed. More Important though imo is hard tackling across the back 4 and even closing down for my Centre backs (I hate it when they back off). The penalty risks are worth it through a match where the opposition are playing against a brick wall. All I need to do then is score whether I am home or away.

The opposition rarely uses a 4-2-4 if the player is a big club. Its only against the smaller sides. I have tried 4 1 4 1 kill game tactics and still leaked.

It happaned to me all the time. Just couldnt win those "big 4". Even though in some matches my guys were really better. But it doesnt bother me too much if I dont win, what bothers me is those "ring" thing you were mentioning!!
Did anybody see a keeper to kick ball into the row z after a 70 meter backpass and striker closing him down????

Absolute and complete ********. The "wet" pitch is more a "dug up" pitch than anything else. Shall we take a look at the way Old Trafford's pitch has cut up over the years, or Chelsea's, or Birmingham's, or Portsmouth's or...

You would have to change your game plan at Stamford Bridge last February. The thing was diabolical. I'm sorry, but weather does play a part. Do you not change a tactic for gale conditions? Or do Premier League grounds have a device which eliminates wind?
