And yet would buy FM08. Who's the mug?

Second, I would like some examples of these "too many bugs", as I have yet to encounter, or hear of, one that makes the game unplayable.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Easy man, i didnt say that you shouldnt play the game if you like. Look i am writing about all kind of bugs (kill 'em all) on "what would you like to se in the ...." blog. I would like you to read some of those, couse there are people who dont think the game is perfect. Some really interesting ideas....
Third, it comes down too much to the players you buy and the tactics. Erm... Yes? Isn't that football. Stop me if I'm wrong there.-------------
That is just one thing of many in football...........
There are many problems with the game, many of which I feel need major overhauls. Most of them are to do with the match engine, I'll grant you, but that's the main area of the game I'm interested in. There's no need to go into them here, but despite the flaws, the game is still winnable, still playable and still challenging.--------------------------------------------NOW YOU ARE GETTIN THE POINT!!!

I really never suggested the game was perfect - it's just to hear some people talk they think the game is unplayable. Which it clearly isn't.
The fact you haven't actually clarified which bugs make the game so infuriating/easy/difficult/boring/whatever makes me think that this was a catch-all statement with no substance.
I also can't quite get what you mean about the game being too biased towards players and tactics. How else do you win a football match? If you mean issues like team bonding, morale, media coverage - that's all there. If anything, too much emphasis is placed on the media side of things. I really don't have a clue how a football game can't be based hugely on players and tactics. That IS football...
The final point you make seems to imply you believe it is the match engine which is seriously flawed. I don't feel that it is.
There are obviously some major problems that need to be addressed. Goalkeeper passing seems impossible to get right, marking at set pieces is often diabolical and the AI is a little predictable in what it does but is incredibly efficient at it. There appears to be no difference between the manager of Blyth or Barcelona. They all know exactly what to do, and don't give the human manager a break. OK, we don't want it too easy, but the AI seems to rarely make a mistake, except with team talks. And I can only judge that based on the **** ups my assistant has made from time to time, or inexplicable AI performances in the second half where they seem impotent.
I suppose what I'm trying to say is: you haven't backed up any of your statements, least of all the one about the game being too easy.
And to finish, I'll repeat, because I really want an answer to this one above all else. How exactly can a football manager game place too much emphasis on players skills and tactics? |

I totally agree, I'm getting fedup now, one season when i aint favourites to go up i have a cracking season, when I am favourites to go up i have a crap season. And i know that there is an unofficial bible on here, and believe me I've read it, by the way I'm not managing a top club just a div 1 team, as a lot of people do choose the "Pool, Man utd, Chelski, according what I read on here, that may be easier, I don't know cos I've not tried 'em.
And Ive read many other peoples take on tactics but I just cant get anywhere.
I've been playing this game since cm3 days and I've probably bragged it up to god knows how many people how brill it was in the past, but when we chat about games in work now I just don't bother saying zilch, although I know 2 other guys have got it and they are the same as me, I know they were struggling with it also.
And I do understand that some people lke a challenge, but to be honest this game difficult.
Example I got a guy on a free transfer at the start of the season, all the fans are excited, what happens he gets in injured in training in the first week, and is out for at least 3 mnths at least and this has happened twice to me, plus I've had 2 good strikers want to leave cos we didn't get promotion, theres more soap going on in my club than Eastenders, no i think its time to dig out me old 05/06 version sorry to say.

Tactics are the very heart of the game. It is the whole point of the game... creating a tactic that propells you to success. To make THIS easier defeats the whole purpose of the game.
I sympathise with people who find it too hard. I really do, but why are you coming on here complaining and saying you won't play it again.
That isnt a reflection on the game... that is a reflection on YOU! Are you a quitter? Do you want everything handed to you on a silver platter?
The game is hard. Good! Harden up yourself and get tactically smart. Learn why things are going well for you and refuse to give up.
Be Roy Keane!!!
Believe me when you 'crack' the game the satisfaction far outweighs any lingering resentment you have at the moment.
And beating the game is far better than letting it beat you!

I agree wholehartedly. When your 3-0 up at Old Trafford winning easily then after 60 minutes Patrice Evra a FULL BACK is put up front and ends up running rings around your defence (where the likes of Rooney and Saha have done absolutely nothing and been substituted). Then as you somehow lose 4-3 you begin to realise how seriously pathetic this game is.

I agree with the OT.
This isnt a skillfull game nor is it really difficult. Its just it promotes everything boring in a simulation and demotes creative thought and fun.
1. The big clubs have hidden morale bonuses. Chelsea for example are at 100. There fore it doesnt matter who you buy for a smaller club, what tactics you play, the big clubs will play better just because they start with super hidden team morale. This might be realistic as the big clubs in real life do have the mentality. Its just for a game its rubbish. If i fill my team with world class players I want to be competive, and not be handicapped because im a small club from the start.
2. The most success you can have in this game is by listening to the media predictions. If you are favourites, then attacking football is best, If you favourites to lose, you should defend. Ive played games in FM where with a great team ive gone into a game and lost only because i played attacking, saved and played it again defensively to win by a big margin. All because i was favourites to lose! It doesnt matter what players I have or tactics! Its down to a media prediction. Why buy players!
3. The same as point 2 but regarding team talks. Ive a great team, i think i should be pushing for the title. But its a small club. And favourites to lose against Liverpool. Should i go tell them they can win? I do and they lose. I tell them just go out and have fun and they win! The team talks have more effect than the fact I have Okaka and Alexandre Pato up front!
3. Tactics Tactic Tactics. All the best managers in the world agree that its the players that are more important than the tactics. But dont the opposition managers want to go for a win? Dont they want play on thier own strengths rather than my tactics weakness. This is not a major point because like I said it probably doesnt matter what tactics you use as long as you get the media prediction and team talk right!
4. I just had 6 injuries to my players. There careers are prbably over as they need a specialist. Is it because i left the traing on default! One or two notches down on stamina and fitness, and that collision where my player broke his neck would never happen!
5. Ive just played 3 games in a row. I drew 2 after conceding goals in 92 and 93 rd minutes. The third game I winning 1 0 and let in two goals after 90s mins. Why? thats 9 points in the swany.
6. The most important attribute for a midfielder is heading!
7. I dont want to make tactics for wet matches. We have undersoil heating and good drains!.
8. Viduka has scored only 3 goals all season. It was a hattrick against me! O no its Kevin Doyle next at reading.

Should i go tell them they can win? I do and they lose. I tell them just go out and have fun and they win! The team talks have more effect than the fact I have Okaka and Alexandre Pato up front! So let your assman take care of it then and don't worry about it anymore
OF course tactics are important... You don't think Greece was full of superstars at the European champs do you?
4. I just had 6 injuries to my players. There careers are prbably over as they need a specialist. Is it because i left the traing on default! One or two notches down on stamina and fitness, and that collision where my player broke his neck would never happen! Screenshot of your player breaking his neck please? Or stop talking more rubbish!
5. Ive just played 3 games in a row. I drew 2 after conceding goals in 92 and 93 rd minutes. The third game I winning 1 0 and let in two goals after 90s mins. Why? thats 9 points in the swany. The AI are using a 4-2-4... Did you change tactics to combat it? NO? Then its your own stupid fault.
6. The most important attribute for a midfielder is heading! Your right! Being able to kick a ball is not important at all!
7. I dont want to make tactics for wet matches. We have undersoil heating and good drains!. So you only ever play home games do you?
8. Viduka has scored only 3 goals all season. It was a hattrick against me! O no its Kevin Doyle next at reading.
