Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default Opposition strikers moving in between centre backs.

This seem to occur fairly often for me. My centre backs are Colocinni and Terry and I reckon they are one of the best in the game.

However, opposition strikers seem to move in between them fairly easily. Is there any way to minimize this? Should I further reduce closing downs for them? Currently their closing down is about 5 and not set on tight marking.

How should I do this?

Are you man marking or zonal marking? That may be the answer.

i believe centre backs shouldn't have high closing.

i let my fullback do the running and the centre back do the sweep with man marking set to them

They are on zonal marking actually. So I should set them to man marking?

Oh so my closing down should be set to a value lower than 5? Which you reckon would be an optimal number?

another thing you can try is to actually man mark (specifically) with your faster CB on say mixed closing down and move the second CB right back to the actual SW position, with lower mentality and low closing down. also give him zonal marking. they should be right in line with each other in the middle.

i do this if the opposition are countering with one fast forward
