Since I DL the last patch, any tactic I try doesnt seem to work. Had mastered a really good 4-4-2 tactic, but when using on the 2nd patch it just doesnt seem to work.

I've not noticed any difference, don't think there were any changes to the match engine apart from adjusting the amount of violence in matches.

der isnt much dif but i heard 442 doesnt work well anymore.

BS, I've won 4 & 6 cups leagues in 4 seasons playing 442 (AAB in Denmark 2 seasons, then Ajax in Holland 2 seasons). Gotta give it a spin with Barcelona now though, just took over there.

you heard wrong! It worked wonders for my real salt lake team: i won the western division by 30 pts, no kidding! you must, however, have DM and AM as your midfielders, and have their individual instructions changed accordingly. Also, make your AM run up through the midle. Of course, it all depends what kinds of players you have.

But surely a 442 with a AM and DM is a diamond? And not what the OP is talking about.

FACT: No one knows for sure what changes occured in the last patch. We have BEEN TOLD by SI that nothing happened except to player violence but nobody has sorted through the code to check.

It is possible that a small change elsewhere (morale/teamtalks) could have a knock on effect that would show on the pitch-I don't know.

That's the thing about this forum-no one knows anything-people can talk about what they've seen, what changes they make that work and if something works consistently then they take it as a 'fact' or a 'rule' (and ignore the time that it doesn't work).

As an aside-have a look at the FUSS thread-that's a 442 that has had considerable success (although some have struggled post-patch) and see if some of the advice there can help you tighten up your tactic

No, it's not a diamond! I'm not playing AM nor DM at their respective positions! It is a good old 4-4-2 with AM and DM for central midfielders; this is, in my opinion, the way to play 4-4-2 for good balance in the midfield: if you play with two AM's/dm's it's too attacking/defensive. However, I never tried 4-4-2 with two CM's 'cause I don't like players who are neither A nor D-minded, so I avoid them, or retrain them.
