direct passing, quick tempo, deep defending, closing down mixed, time wasting rare, attacking mentality, passing down flanks, zonal marking(home) man marking(away),counter attack on, tackling normal, although i change it a lot depending on the opponent.

Aaaargh! Ronaldo is infuriatingly average for me and NOTHING I do can seem to change it!!

little. he has poor creativity... give him often on forward runs and run with ball. Look at his attributes for crossing and if they are less than 15 give him mixed or rarely. Same with through balls (passing).

When you are playing away try playing down the flanks to utilize him more in a counter attackng role.

If you look Cristiano Ronaldo`s preferred moves are running down the left with my Man United side he wreaks havoc the best postion to play him is AML with crossing mixed forward runs mixed so he can either run or pass with the ball.

BUT he is also a very good forward also if you retrain him to be a striker also he turns into a monster.

6 short 6 slow, creative freedom is mixed team as i never move creative freedom

I have had a horrible first season with Ronaldo, which ended up with me finishing the PRM as 5th (luckily I won the CL, otherwise I would have been fired).

At the beginning of season 2 I have now made some minor tweaks to my team tactics, using a bit more width at home and away playing down both flanks. I have Ronaldo on slightly above middle closing down, of course runs on often, the rest depending on the stats simply.

Suddenly he does not only play much better, he also scores more.

So maybe you just need to tweak your team settings and your crossing settings (cannot remember here at work atm how exactly I tweaked the crossing, but it is at least on mid and the crossing from set on mixed) a little and he will start playing properly.

Actually what helped me a bit was reading through Dayle's tactics guide for dummies Not that I read anything new, but it simply made me reconsider my tactics and check if everything is reasonable in there, since I just used my old "success" tactics without much tweaking.

I play Cristiano Ronaldo in the hole behind Rooney (AMC) with these instructions;

Mentality: 17 notches (attacking)
Creative Freedom: 20 notches (much)
Passing Style: about 6 notches (short)
Forward Runs: Often
Run with Ball: Often
Long Shots: Mixed
Through Balls: Mixed
Cross Balls: Mixed

Also, i use a playmaker, and Ronaldo is my man.

This is his stats so far after testing;
Apps: 14
Goals: 8
Assists: 6
MoM: 7
Passing: 75%
SoT Ration: 42%
Fouls Against: 75!
Average Rating: 8.00 (exact)

First Season. Also, C.Ronaldo has scored a few shockers from distance. (1 from somewhere along halfway line!)
