Why is it that the 2007 version of the game has 30% less - scored potential players? Once you get to 201o it gets very hard to find any players that are good enough to play for a top team, even through your youth ranks. This is definitely something that needs to be rectified for the 2008 version.

if anything the game becomes easier the deeper into it you get. if you've half way successful you're going to have so much money that purchasing talent isn't going to be a problem and the regens that start appearing from 2010 onwards are so much better than the retiring players they're replacing.
The longest game i have played was through to 2020ish as Real Madrid, Newcastle and then AC Milan. I have to say that it seemed to me that there were more than enough quality players to buy and as hughsieb said the ammount of money that you get makes it easy to purchase top talent with a good team.
I played to about 2020 with Aston Villa and you'll notice too that all the english clubs become by for the best teams in the champions league, if i draw a foreign team like Real Madrid/AC Milan/Barcelona its quite an easy game to win. The game has a large data base with most top leagues spain, italy, france, germany, holland, scotland all as playable leagues as soon as you get to the semi finals its all english teams every time, the top 6 best teams in europe are villa, arsenal, man utd, chelsea, Liverpool, man city. I think this is unrealistic though I dont know what will happen in the future, but I dont find signing decent players a problem this far into the game.
i played with Lazio until 2027 years. It become hard to find any good young players. For example there were no Argentinian players which could play in top Europe clubs. And i Also couldn't find any good and tall striker, because all of them were 179 or smaller
the game is random every new game you start,its all about how u progress the [players ie,if you sign an argentine when he was a youngster im sure you could develop him into an international player.hence the name of game football manager

this is couse the game heawy favour english teams with money and alot of players are overrated and then their regens get overrated to.
my game in italy 2028 or something english teams have sick loads of cash if i use an 3rd party program and look.
