Managing Ajax, I'm just past WC2010 where Italy defeated Cameroon 1-0. Won the league every season all Dutch Cups bar one. Last season, my side went through the league undefeated. Average age of my squad is 24.
Have always went well in the CL. Quarter-finals is my best record.
I've found this is a very easy team to manage. I haven't really altered my tactics from day one (apart from minor changes for each game) and tend to play very attacking.
It goes something like this. Sorry if I don't spell some player's names correctly:
Stekelenburg
Barraghan-Van Den Borre-Kompany-Marcelo
Bodmar/Maduro-Sneijder
Beerens Mitea
Huntelaar-Nando Rafael
Ins and outs that I can remember:
Ins:
Nando Rafael. Decent player. Paid 13 million for him. Decent scoring rate.
Roy Beerens. Winger from PSV. Not great, but does okay.
Romando Dennebom. Scores quite a few goals for a winger. Cheap and handy.
Matthieu Bodmar. World-class AMC.
Marcelo. Great left-sided defender. Still developing in my game. Being chased by major clubs.
Kompany and Van Den Borre. Solid centre backs.
Some Mexican guy. Esperrazo or something. Solid DMC.
Barraghan. Spanish wingback. Not bad. Just solid him to Juventus for 15 million.
Outs:
Rosenberg. Didn't do much for my team. Sold him in the first season.
Lindenbergh, Rosales, De Mul, Perez, Manucharyan, Roger, Krohn-Dehli, Ogăraru have all moved on.
Some players worth a mention:
Sneijder. Absolutely do not sell this player, even if you get good bids for him. I would say he has been influential in over 75% of my league matches.
Huntelaar. Keep this guy. Gets the goals.
Stam. Good for the first two seasons. Let him move on after that.
Babel. Can be slightly difficult to deal with, but he performs well. Capable of turning a match on its head.
Mitea. Solid.
Gabri. Went okay for me, a good backup.
Emanuelson. Good player. Probably not as good as Marcelo, but he develops nicely.
Stekelenburg develops into a world-class keeper. Keep him. Heitinga's also pretty solid.
I don't have much to say about the other players. Vurnon Anita has just moved to AC Milan despite playing only two league games. Think I overlooked this guy. Sarpong looks to be a decent player. Stanton Lewis gets the goals after a few seasons...
Tips
I would say this team needs a bit of an overhaul when you begin managing. There's a few older players who chew up wage bill. If I remember correctly, my current wage bill is about 690K (limit of 875K) and I'm working with a transfer budget of something like 35 million euros.
Have always found some quality signings in South America. Feyenoord and PSV also push hard on the South Americans.
Also work hard on getting new coaches and creating a good training system.
Let me know if anyone needs tips on good players, and I'll go through the past season history.
im on my 3 season with ajax now, and almost all the players that started in my youth team are becoming amazin, anita, sarpong, van der heyden, jordi schell, mitchel donald, john gossens and alot of other ones i can't remenber now, are gettin very very good.
and by the way...its very easy to win the league with ajax isn't it?? i always finish with alot of distance from the 2º place (wich is always psv)
