My favourite way for playinf FM or CM for that matter is lower teams. I will always remember when i took Torquay in CM1 to the top and beat Ajax while in Div1 in the Uefa Cup. Ah the memories, Scott Stamps it stands out.
Anyway, some LLLMAS or whatever get the wrong idea. This game is dynamic. Sometimes i start at the conference and sign ***** players but sometimes i start at Madrid and sometimes i start at Derby. Even sometimes i try and bankrupt Chelsea or manage the mighty Spurs or whatever.
I'm not a LLM but i'm also not a non LLM. I've been playing the game for a millenia and appreciate the LLM forum and its ideas but we sometimes create far too many rules for what is the nations favourite non-physical past time.
Actually, there are very few rules with LLM other than the header. What I like to encourage is people thinking for themselves about what would be the realistic thing to do in a situation they find themselves in.
Is it realistic for an unknown manager to be signed at Madrid? No. Is it realistic Derby will sign an unknown manager? No.
is it realistic for someone to come in and bankruot Chelsea? No
So people don't do that around here.
As bigpants said. It's your game so you can play it however you want, just don't tell us about it if you are not willing to play as an LLMer
Speak for yourself. Yes I have created some extra rules for my current campaign such as offering only part-time contracts but this is for my own amusement - I don't regard it as a LLaMa forum rule.
There are plenty people who play lower league management but with their own rules - there's even a new website dedicated to a version with tipping, player-naming etc. Anyone is welcome to do their own thing - all we ask is that you don't pester those of us here who choose to abide by the forum's guidelines.
To me the idea of this forum is like minded people playing a great game in a particular style. If you don't like the style then there are plenty of other chat rooms you could attend and post where they would have the same point of view as yourself. As the mods will most likely tell you the LLM way has been thought up and adapted over a huge period of time to the point that things are now set in stone.
You wouldn't go in to a church and say sometimes I follow you guys but other times I follow some other religion because you have too many rules and guidelines!
Basically, play the game the way you want. If you want to play the official LLM way then tell us about it whilst adhering to the forum rules, if you don't then fair enough it's your game but just don't tell us about it.
What the fool said, plus you either are or arn't it's not something you can drift in and out of.
I would have to disagree with this, I have been playing CM/FM for 10 years now, and I like taking on different challenges, which can include LLM games. I don't think it's a case of either you are or you aren't, but I appreciate that you guys in here don't want to hear about games where you aren't.
Actually, one of the best things that SI brought in recently was the reputation thing, and this is how I base whether or not I will take a club over. If the fans are outraged, I quit and start again, if they accept me as a manager then fair enough. This doesn't mean I will always be in the bottom division, but it certainly means I can't take over any big clubs.
And I have always only ever bought players that I have scouted, or noticed in the media, not going after known 'cheat' players.
Being new to these boards, I didn't even know about the LLM culture til recently, and I would say I try and take a lot of the LLM values into my games, without always playing as a bottom division club.
So, I hope that I will be still be welcome here and you want to hear about my games when they are 'pure-LLM'.
Hope that was of interest, otherwise feel free to flame. :p
You can disagree with it as much as you want. This forum still is not a democracy, and some things just are.
One of them is the fact that it has been decided, that you just can't post in GPG and play in one way in one moment, and then - because you feel like it - play in an ethical 100% pure LLM way.
Maybe you just have the wrong impression that this forum is about just playing a bit in a certain way. It is about playing *only* in a certain way, and you either fit in or you do not.
I'm not trying to argue with any of your points. I have every respect for the whole LLM philosophy and what you've set up here. And you won't find me in the GPG. I am just saying I don't always take over a team in the lowest division possible, I only go where reputations will let me.
I was just trying to provoke a bit of debate, surely you aren't against that??
But, if you don't want me here, that's fair enough.

Debate, we don't do debate. We do flaming and nastiness, we do ganging up on everyone new who attempts to post in this forum. We do not do debate.
Debate on the ethics of the forum is not allowed, I quote from the guidelines
"Questioning the ethics of LLM
The guys who post in here play to the Spirit and Ethics of LLM. It's up to the individual player how they play, they bought the game, it's up to them how they play it.
However...if you post in here, you play to the LLM Ethics. It's as simple as that. You post here, you accept the rules."
This forum is for people who play the game in the same ethical way. Everyone who plays in this way is welcome.
People who play in a different way are welcome but pease don'e tell us that our way is wrong or that we have too many rules, or that your way is better.
