Off Topic: As you can imagine I'm not playing a full season in less than 30 minutes. I'm currently finishing the 2012/13 Season. I'm translating the story from a Spanish forum
SEASON 2007/8 - U.E. Lleida S.A.D. - SPAIN 2°B Group 2
O.K., So I was facing another exhausting season, full of matches, only to come up to 4 FXXXing games.
As I said, although we had lost our "jewel", we could replace him with another guy borned in Lleida's youth academy, who was sat on the bench for the last 3 seasons.
With a couple of free transfers, we formed a strong team and won the title again.
W 28 - D 4 - L 6 - F 83 - A 19 - PTS 88
Spanish Cup - Beat Motril (agg 3-0), Valladolid (1st Div) 1-0, Valencia (1st Div) 3-1, and lost to Málaga, of course, also 1st Div (will we ever be lucky in the cup pairings?) (agg 4-1).
Once again, we should face playoffs. Only difference with last season was that the we had struggled in the last league games.
So, we faced Alicante at home and drew 2-2. Awful score that forced us to win at Alicante's Stadium to avoid another disaster.
Very tough match at Alicante, with 13 ocassions for them, against 10 Lleida shots. But in the 55 minute, we could score. And after 40 minutes of suffering, we were, once again, in the playoff final (after 2 forgettable games). Playoffs suck arse!
Final games were against Las Palmas, once a 1st Div team, and rival to Castillo (btw, this season Castillo couldn't avoid relegation).
First match, away, we had a decent performance and won 2-1.
I was experiencing a sort of deja-vu. Again, facing the final match of the season at home with a 2-1 victory in the first match and...
Las Palmas were the closer to a Hurricane I've ever saw. They stepped over our face from minute 1. They shot at goal three times more than Lleida.
However (and thanks God...will, our 'keeper), they missed each and every chance. Minute 59, penalty for Las Palmas... missed! And they kept coming and coming. And finally scored in the 90th minute. It looks like I'm exagerating, but this is exactly what happened. Of course, as I said this is LLM, so the referee gave 4 minutes of injury time. And in the 93rd minute the Las Palmas striker had a one-on-one ocassion... and blew it again.
So, in an absoultely UNFAIR way, we made it. After 4 long years I could finally leave one of the toughest divisions of world soccer (88 teams!) behind.
