Default Is South Africa a good place to start?

After lots of contemplating, I've decided that my first venture into LLM will be in the South African 1st division. The team that caught my eye was Dangerous Darkies. Very weak defence and mediocrity in other positions, but w/ 44,000 to spend on transfers should be a possibility to at least meet the board's expectations of a safe mid-table position.

Anyone else with experience in Africa?

No, never played there. Good luck though

And remember to complete 3 seasons before updating us on your game (should you wish to, ofc).

I had lots of fun in CM 03/04 there for a season. Got promoted and played too good in second one, so I decided it was way too easy and stoped playing. But perhaps in FM...

I've played FM in South Africa, and picked the very same team, for the very same reason!

Anyway, I only played a few matches before getting annoyed. With a normal database not many African players get loaded, making getting players from outside of SA, but in the same region, very difficult. Getting players from elsewhere in the world is unrealistic and meant I could only really scout SA. This limited the appeal in my eyes as I wanted to build an African dream team over time.

'Tis such a silly name.

If you can't go huge, witty_name's experience might suggest this is a scenario where it might be appropriate to use the retain players function to load all players in Africa. You'd have to load only the S.African league and avoid approaches to manage the natinal side, but it would give you the pool of players you'd need.
