Alright, I lied a bit. My Brazil game doesn't even have a fixture for six months after clicking through about a month (I assume some will be scheduled coming up soon, but I got bored waiting for it to process) so in the game for which this update is concerned, I continued as follows:

2010/2011:
A great year at Southhampton including a 6th place League finish, the Carling Cup and FA Cup prompted a stadium expansion that has wiped my budget out. The big boys are sniffing after my two great forwards who are already begging me to let them go. The season ahead looks to be full of the sort of contract tedium I hate - if the Brazil start doesn't pick up some fixtures in the next month, I'm going to resign at S'ton and seek employment in the German regional divisions on this game instead.

It seems like your team doesn't participate in the national divisions then. That's the point I always hated about Brazil as well.

Still I think, you should stick to it.

I'll probably click through it whilst doing homework, but I must say, it seems a bit dull. I'm hoping it picks up a bit, though, as really waiting 6 months to play 12 matches (or so) isn't that much fun. I may just 'Frank' another one as well, but we'll see.

Thanks!!

Holiday mode is probably a good idea (thanks for the suggestion) but I must say (despite it having long ago ceased being LLManaging), the career that started this thread continues to draw me - likely because I know all of my players. At any rate, I played another season over the last week or so on the original career. Update follows:

Southhampton 2011/2012 is going swimingly with marked improvement (I realized some of my earlier posts were a bit like bragging so I'll not post position and the like). Been offered jobs with Liverpool and Juventus but I've decided that in many ways moving to PV was a mistake - you can never go home - and to take those jobs would be the ultimate sellout. Not like the Saints weren't. I have a couple of specific goals now, and then it's back to Maidenhead (maybe in a season or two if all goes well) or a club like them if they have not yet returned to Conf South (they were relegated this season). Meanwhile, I'll try and get back into the Brazil game and update if I ever manage to sit through the season.
I've played the lower leagues in previous versions but had never actually applied all of these rules (having never been to the forums until fairly recently) and I must say, I've enjoyed it immensely.

Thanks to all for kind words, advice and support!!

Och, it's been a long time. Well, the Brazil career is quits. It's simply too dull, even on Holiday mode. I've been busy so I only just finished 2013 of the original career that started this thread - it has taken another step and a question arises.

2013 saw the Saints win the league and the FA but fall short in the CL. Ya hurrah. I've lost my passion. My Saints are hopelessly levereged to the bank and have half the budget of the Old Firm, but still have the ability and the money to buy a LOT of talent and frankly, the challenge is a bit gone. I've enjoyed the run, but now I am considering returning to my roots. My question is, what advice would you all offer? I want to either return to a lower level or start a new career - the magic has left this one. I wish now that I had never taken the promotion back in my fourth year. It's sort of ruined this one. I should have stayed at happy Maidenhead forever, or at least gone no further than L3.

So, I'm a bit bored with S'ton, not sure on the realism of going from EPL to ECS, and not ready to throw away the work I've put into this career. What do you lads think?

I'd keep going, then again I'm not keen on throwing away savegames.

Choice is yours at the end of the day.

Crikey, it's been long enough, you'd think I'd be in the habit of saying L2 by now.

I'm the same way. I was reluctant to throw out my pre-patch save-game -- it had gotten a long way in. Decided to do it for this one, though and I'd hate to give up the 30 hours (or whatever) I've put into it.
