Let me start by saying that I was born and raised in Cambridge and am probably the only Us fan in Somerset...? Who knows, in a couple of seasons I may be taking them on a LLM adventure, if they're still in business .
Until then, I decided that my current county is under represented in the English game. Until Yeovil Town's promotion to the old division 3 in 2002-03, Somerset had never had a football league side. With their giant-killing reputation and recent success, Yeovil have shown that Somerset should be taken seriously as a footballing county. Despite the thread's title, and being a Cambridge fan, I must congratulate Gary Johnson on what he's done for The Glovers.
With this need for more football success in Somerset, where else could I start my LLM career than at Conference South side Weston-super-Mare? It's only 20mins away by train, so I could get home from work just in time for Neighbours!
Also, I should point out that despite being the creator of the iLeague update, this game has been played using the original database, version 5.0.5.
I have also decided to be be strict on myself with regards to the established LLM rules as follows:

I will only scout nations in which I have played pre-season friendlies. All friendlies will be arranged by my assistant, and therefore I will be reliant on him spreading the net further before I can find more players.

I will totally avoid the player search screen.

My scouts will be the only source of player information. Any news items regarding certain players will be ignored, and scouts will purely be assigned to nations and not individual players.

I will stay at Weston until sacked, despite any job offers I recieve.

All other LLM rules will also be followed.

Upon arriving at Woodspring Park, the first priority would be to cut the club's wage budget and raise some funds to start rebuilding the squad. As I knew very little about the bunch of sandcastle builders I had inherited, I called in my staff to give their opinions, to sort out the wheat from the chaff. Those not deemed good enough, chaff, were immediately placed on the transfer list and as a small club, I felt 2 assistant managers was excessive so the player/assistant was allowed to move on to St. Albans, I'd have to shine my own shoes from now on!
Apart from the physio, all other backroom staff were below the standard required to improve Weston's fortunes. Therefore, rather than terminate contracts and pay compensation, all contracts were renegotiated with lower wages and to expire at the end of the season when they wouldn't be renewed, I didn't tell them this of course. I decided to bring in a new coach and scout, as this would allow me to begin looking for new players and improving those already on the books.
The lack of transfer funds obviously inhibited my ability in the transfer market, but my new scout unearthed 2 Birmingham City players available on loan. After several calls to Steve Bruce, "Weston-super-Mare? Stop taking the p*ss!" was his initial response, a deal was done and both players joined for the season. By the middle of September, I had managed to offload 4 players for a total of £11k, but I resisted temptation to splash out on new talent, and keep the money aside for running costs, and a shiny new laptop.
Happy with my group of lads, and wages under control, the main objective for my first season at Woodspring Park was now to avoid relegation and evaluate my squad to give me an idea of where to strengthen for the following season.
With no aspirations for winning the league, I looked to the cups for my glory, and a little bit of prize money. I was left disappointed, therefore, when I was knocked out of the the FA Trophy 4-0 in the first round. This was soon forgotten as at the peak of a 10 game unbeaten run, I reached the 2nd round proper, not qualifying, of the FA Cup, eventually being knocked out by League Two side Grimsby.
I failed to capitalise on the momentum gained from a cup run and spent the remainder of the season hovering around mid-table. A final league position of 12th was probably a little lower than I would've liked, but the board and fans were happy, and I also received several job offers from League Two clubs, all of which were declined.
With my first season complete, the rebuilding of Weston-super-Mare could begin...
As to you, jonesy. (sonarman anyone? ). A bit shorter (more updatelike than storylike) would be better and next time make sure that you've already completed three seasons before starting an update thread.

1 - A different take. Some llamas use Scout Where You Can Tour or Scout Your Borders. I start like this but when finances grow (for example, having a couple of million in Division Two/League On), I cast my net to Europe. Having your Ass Man restrict you isn't realistic.
2 - Not using player search is standard fair, as it would require you to have pre game knowledge of a player.
3 - Again, you're restricting yourself. You can send scouts to check on a player once one of your scouts has initially found him. And there is nothing wrong with sending a scout to check on a player who has come up in a news report.
4 - That's a matter of personal choice. I prefer to stay with my clubs, but do get tempted now and again. Heck, I was at Billericay Town for about 15 seasons in an old save.
5 - Don't diss Yeovil. I like them. Mainly because I am them in the Zealot game.
I decided to be a bit tough on myself with regards to the rules I use. This way, the game is an even bigger challenge, and any sucess will be that much sweeter
