As an LLM I often make a lot of loan signings to strengthen my squad, but sometimes I feel like this spoils the game a bit when I have 7 or 8 loanees in a squad of about 18 or 20, and it seems to get a little unrealistic. I wondered if anyone else felt this way?
I'm definately against having a large number of loanees as I would feel it stifles my own players & as such harm any long term ambitions I may have for the club.

I will second that. Loans should only be used to plug holes in your team (injuries or lack of player for a post) or as a potential buy for the future. Loans are more problems than solutions in large numbers.
That's my serious worry at the moment. We could get promoted but I'm not sure we would be able to get the same quality next season. That's why I sent a lot of my loan signings home recently - we aren't getting relegated so there is no need for them.
I usually don't sign loan players because:
a) they're either worse than my first team players (imagine!) or won't come to my club.
b) they're good enough and willing to come, but already loaned out at some other club.
However, I used loans in some quantities (bout 3-5 throughout the season) last season because I'd just promoted with a woefully understrength team that was still largely on an amateur contract. I must say that those loans did save the season for me, and have given me the reputation boost and confidence needed to establish myself in my new league.
So now I'm divided on them. They certainly have their uses, but I'd rather achieve my goals with my own players which I can rely to build upon for next season (although only the carp ones stay and the good ones get sold anyway).
I'm also quite concerned about the borderline tipping this post invites.
I'm happy to have 3 or 4 loanees in my squad. My squad would never be as tiny as 18 or 20 players though. More like 18-20 players in each of my 1st team, reserves and youths.
