One thing that has always annoyed me is the announcements in my news of some "great" player having just retired. Often I would quick like to view the player's history at that point, but of course once you get that message they have vanished from existence and it is too late. I'd prefer to get a message saying that Percy Twinkle Toes is going to retie tomorrow so I can take a last look at his "glittering career" rather than that he's just fallen off the end of the earth.

Maybe they wanted a break before going into coaching?

I find that if you say that they would make a good coach/scout etc they get a staff profile and you can offer them a job. Most of the time it just says that they want to concentrate on playing, but i have had a few players turned coaches this way.
