Could this competition be implemented in to FM2009? I would imagine this to be very fun when playing with South Africa leagues running.
African Nations Championship
This is a new competition that CAF (African equivalent to UEFA) have announced. The first hosts will be Côte d’Ivoire in 2009 and the tournament will be held on a biennial basis alternating with the African Nations Cup and avoiding dates where the African junior cadets play.
The difference between the competitions mentioned above and the African Nations Championship is that only domestic players can participate, for example any Nigerian player playing football outside of the Nigerian Leagues (even if he is still playing on the African continent) will not be allowed to represent Nigeria in this tournament.
Qualifying games are played between teams in each group.
North Zone : Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia
West Zone A : Cap-Vert, Gambia, Guinéa, Guinéa-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Sénégal, Sierra Leone
West Zone B : Bénin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Niger, Nigeria, Togo
Central Zone A: Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Democratic Republic of Congo, Sao Tomé, Chad
East Zone : Burundi, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Somalia, Sudan, Tanzania
South Zone: Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Lesotho, Malawi, Madagascar, Maurice, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, Zimbabwe
Only one team can qualify for the tournament from each group, the exception is the South Zone where 2 teams are allowed to qualify. The competition hosts automatically qualify. In total 8 nations will compete in the full tournament.
Once qualified for the competition there will be two Pools A and B drawn at random - each team will have four nations who play each other once in the group.
The 3rd and 4th placed teams in both groups are eliminated.
The winner of group A will play runner up of group B
The winner of group B will play runner up of group A
A third place play off will be played between the two nations who lost the semi final ties.
The final will played between the winners of the semi final ties.

Yeah this would be frst but unfortunetley the only African country playble is South Africa. So more would have to be added, some possible leagues added could be:
Egypt
Nigeria
Kenya
Cameroon
Côte d’Ivoire
I think that these countries have domestic teams that are very good. Al Ahly in Egypt is an example

Add Tunisia and Morocco to that. They're a damn sight stronger than Hong freakin' Kong in any case

That is my opinion, judging on how easy the information for these countries is to obtain. We have recently made a new website http://www.fmafrica.net to encourage people to help research the african nations and they do need a lot of work - up until this year there was only one person doing the data for the whole continent. So there are a few glaring errors.
Here are a few examples of what has gone wrong in this version so far (and is now in the process of being fixed thanks to the new website!!):
The African Nations Cup in Ghana 2008 will only use four stadiums in real life, two of which are not in the database, the other two have incorrect names.
African Nations are not being held at the correct hosts in the future, in real life the 2010 will be held in Angola but in game it is randomly set.
All of the stadiums for the 2010 African Nations cup are not in the game.
The cities where the 2010 games will be hosted are not in the game.
The African equivalent to the UEFA Cup has past winners jumbled up with the equivalent of the Cup Winners Cup.
International rivalries are not in the database.
Missing countries (Zanzibar/Western Sahara)
Spoken languages for countries have been missing
Clubs who are in the African Champions League and African Confederation Cup were not in the database at all.
Those that were in the database were not always set to play in the regional competitions.
Cosafa Cup missing entire competition history
Players who have played for a nation are in the database with a different nationality alltogether.
Missing continental awards such as best African goalkeeper and African team of the year (Ahly fans will be familiar with this!)
-----
So things are on the up on the African front!
