Default what is your passing style?

i find short passing game completly uneffective on 2008. even when giving my defense very little creative freedom they still go for many long passes. I know Im doing smth wrong. could it be becouse I set time wasting to none?
direct is far more smoother.

Any thoughts?

Am still early in the season but playing mixed passing. dont normally do that, prefer to play one particular style. Working well so far though. 1 draw and 6 wins, including beating MAn u 4-1. Still early though.

I have different styles for each position. My CB are on mixed passing. My DR and DL are slightly more forward from mixed, almost Direct.

My DMC is on short passing. CM is direct. AMR and AML are short passing. FC are on short.

All of these tactics rely heavily on other traits too, like speed of play, playmakers things like that. Try the tactics forum for more help.

Use Direct as my main passing style, however in my central midfield 3 (I play a narrow 4-1-3-2/4-3-1-2) it is on the low side of mixed.

Kings Lynn playing sexy football :p

Short passing works well for me, but then when I try and play direct, the players still insist on short passes.

It's most confusing.

Mixed. I play a counter attacking 4-4-2 and nothing thrills me more than watching my team suck in the opposition, steal the ball, then bang one to the flanks behind their fullback.

I have yet to see a proper short passing tactic though, people have long been trying to make a consistent Arsenal-style fluid possession football tactic for years, it's like the Holy Grail of FM.

as I see short and quick your defense will play only long balls. team passing wont be over 60%.
if you put arsenal style into FM lenguage I realy believe they would play direct/quick/counter but just with difference rheir passing will go to the ground.

I believe when trying to adopt short passing must go for a lot run with ball, lot creative freedom and throuh balls...didnt tryied it yet but certenly will
