| Going to the press!? Who do you think you are, Columbo? You're not some big industry whistleblower, you're a sodding gamer. You can get a refund for the game if you want I'm sure, just take it back to where you bought it. Also, technically it doesn't 'need work' - they could quite legally not do any patches. This is out of good will, even if it is for ungrateful buggers like you.

I don't think posting sarcastic comments is a very good example for a moderator to set.

Isn't it? I think Glyn's well within his rights to put people like bradateng in their place.

Its good business sense, and writing a 5 min update on a website isnt going to take a massive lump out of the development of the patch, lets face it.
Im not in anyway supporting any legal action or trading standards, thats just daft I think.
But SI need to handle thse situations far better in the future. That much should be clear to anyone.
ps Havent seen a director saying it will be out within a week, all I have read is apparently someone called Paul C making a passing comment that all being well it shuold be out sometime in the next week, hidden in a thread somewhere. If that consitutes an announcement to their customers of any sort, I can see where SI's problem is.
Perhaps if people were more willing to listen to an attempt at constructive criticisim things would improve.

glyn, sorry to burst your bubble but you seem to misunderstand what conumer law is all about.]
ive sent a letter to trading standards telling them about bring out a game that is unfinished which was apparent in a demo released.
now the contract you have when you but software is with 2 parties
1/ the software developers
2/ the retail place where you bought the software.
in both cases the consumer (us glyn) has right which are protected by law.
so please dont patronise me with your sill "they wont listen". which by the way when they receive a complaint they are also duty bound to investigate!

Glyn, do you often feel like you can't win? I have this vision of you at your desk seeing each reply and then systematically headbutting the table in frustration. good luck calming this lot down.
as for the rest of you. for god's sake, the patch will be out when it's ready. not before. if you can't wait, go take a cold shower. remember, some things in life are more important. if you can't wait and feel the need to tell someone, go to the pub.
now cue 'fanboy' chants, because i feel that SI do a good job in the face of ever increasing criticism and expectation.

weden
why would he need to 'put me in my place'?
i wasnt nasty or vicious in my post i was just stating a valid point and i have written to trading standards to get there slant on this from a legal aspect.
dont really think i need putting in my place.
