In the next version I think it would be better if the reputations were updated before the new season is started.

For example, I have just gained promotion to League 2 from Blue Premier, but I keep missing out on end of contract transfers to teams that will be in the same league as me the following season (one month later)

Ideas welcome on this one!

If you win the Permiership, if you look at your players a couple of days later, many of their values will shoot up because they have seen their reputation increase, so I'd be suprised if it wasn't the same for clubs.

Anyway, are the players who reject you choosing teams who are already established in the league? If so, this doesn't suprise me that much as would you not rather play for a team that, by reputation at least, is considered better? The teams who come up are often considered relegation candidates next year, so a good player is likely to look for a better team.

What you say is true, I had thought of that myself but I noticed that after the 1st July very few of the players that rejected me before did so again (those that hadn't buggered off elsewhere already!)

This may have something to do with already being at a club. Once they are released a players standards may fall a bit as now he has no source of income, especially if he was at a much larger club. The player may well be hoping a more reputable club come in for him, but when he gets released, needs a new club and is more willing to accept your offer.
