Maybe in the lower leagues, but not at Liverpool, surely...

I suppose in the Premiership it's not enough but look at Alan Smith & Saha, Saha had a better strike rate but Utd fans loved Smith more.
I think workmanship is what fans want to see sometimes though, Berbatov etc have been labelled as going missing in games and not turning up and it's at those times you would want a playuer like Kuyt who will chase lost causes and give his all.

I'd say pretty much every half decent striker in real life is totally overrated in the game.
Henry and Drogba spring to mind, yeah they're good but I've had Henry score 43 goals in 28 games before, I mean that's just a joke. Kuyt isn't exactly the most clinical striker either but he regularly nets 40+ goals a season, Huntelaar as well, Bendtner after 1 season on loan turns into some sort of God, the examples are endless.
Yet goalkeepers are pretty underrated, I've had amazing goalkeepers that have pretty much the best stats possible but yet rarely keep clean sheets for me, it's almost never that a 'keeper wins me a game or gets M.O.M.

I've never rated Kuyt tbh, he's not the type of player for a "Title Contender" IMO.
He'd be more suited to a relegation-battling team, where willing foot-soldiers are the order of the day.
He hasn't the technique to cut it at the top level.
Top bloke, though, and I can't say a bad word about him, especially for the amount he does for worthy causes.
But there's no room for sentiment in Football.

All he does with a free kick is run up and hits it as hard as he can and hopes for the best. What a complete gay tosspot! Now...i realise not everyone will agree and i may get a few upset Man Utd fans from Pakistan or India or London who have never sniffed Old Trafford, giving me abuse. All i can say is.....JUST BRING IT JABRONI'S!

TBH I wasn't going to say Gerard but i'm glad somebody else did, he is undoubtedly a quality player but i'm fed up hearing about him being world class. He just isn't.
No English player is and IMO Lampard and Terry aren't even quality they are just good.

| The only possibilities are Wayne Rooney, Ashley Cole and Micah Richards. Rooney perhaps has the best opportunity, whilst Cole IMO was the best left back in the world a couple of years ago (he's went off the boil recently), Micah Richards has the ability to be as good if not better than Thuram when he was at his peak but it all depends on what club he decides to move to and how they develop his talents.
There are other players coming through but IMO world class means top of their game and walk into most teams. Gerard would probably get in the Spanish team but not the Italian team and Lampard and Terry would get in neither.
Look at the top European teams would you drop Militio, Ramos, Nesta, Cannavaro etc for Terry NO. Would you drop Messi, Kaka, Ronaldinho etc for Lampard NO. Would you drop Iniesta, Xavi, Gattuso or Pirlo etc for Gerard, maybe but he wouldn't get a full season that's for sure.
