Thats ok because the younger one will learn better discipline. But I wouldn't link someone up with the tutor being light-hearted because the younger player won't get much out of it & it will be a waste of time for both. Players who are professional & perfectionist I find are the best tutors.
So yes, having a determined player tutoring a fairly determined one may be a good move. Although in the case of fairly determined players, I usually want to make sure that their Professionalism and Pressure is also good. Imo, these three attributes (determination, professionalism, pressure) are the most important attributes that tutoring affects.
At any rate, always make sure that the tutor's determination is equal or greater than the youngster's. Otherwise the youngster's determination may drop.
Rickooko, I am afraid that the coaches' suggestions are not ideal. You may avoid a personality crash, tutoring may actually work out, but the end result may not be good.
For example: In early days, before I researched and composed the above guide, my coach suggested that Lazaridis (determination = 16) would benefit from Leontiou (detrmination = 13). Tutoring indeed went well, but Lazaridis' determination went down 3 points!!
So, although Lazaridis and Leontiou became good friends, and Lazaridis' other hidden attributes mostly increased, that was a huge mistake.
Well, they both have great ambition and low loyalty, so if the tutor also has greater determination than they youngster, that may be a good tutoring. Especially if you think that the tutor is generally well-behaved.

I only tutor my youngser with senior player with 16+ determination. Together with the coach suggestion in FM08, it works even better with no crash so far.
In every 1st of January, i will sign some age 30+ famous international player with determination 18+ as tutors for new season.
I think determination 15+ is a minimum requirement for any tutor. Then i will look for players with spirit, resolute, professional, resilient, light hearted as they have other good hidden attributes such as professionalism, and especially pressure handling!
