Making players available to reserves - a suggesting for SI to consider
The new 'make-available-for-reserves' feature is very useful although not entirely user friendly because it is hidden away in a submenu.
Consequently, I would suggest another simple and intuitive approach to availing players to reserve team football: A new column is added to the squad window. The column would contain a small colored icon for each team member, signifying his reserve squad availability status. For the first team and youth team a RED icon would mean no availability (default setting). To change it, click it once and the icon turns YELLOW, meaning limited availability: the player is available but will not feature in the reserves' starting 11. Typically, this means that a 'yellow' player will get less than 45 minutes in a regular reserve league match. Click the icon a third time and it turns GREEN, meaning no restrictions and that player could be played in full in the reserves. The icon setting is permanent until you, the manager, see fit to alter it.
The system would also be used in the reserve squad window: the icons would have the same significance, the only difference being GREEN is the default setting. Having this option applied to the reserves means you can limit or even bar reserve players from matches. This is useful when players are returning from injury or because you simply wish not to make use of certain individuals with no future at the club.
The advantages of the new system are many. It offers easy accessibility and total transparency. But most importantly it offers control. To be honest, I am fairly annoyed by the automatic movement of youth players into the reserves. It is not uncommon that some youths play two full matches per week all season long. This is simply too much. I want to be able to control their development in a subtle manner and not work them to death.
In my view, this feature would be great to have, and, dare I say, easy for SI to implement.

Making players available to reserves - a suggesting for SI to consider Post #2
I seem to find that in Feb to April I only have 1 reserve game a month, so sending 1st team players to the reserves to cheer them up or get some match practice is pointless as they don't really do much!
But if there were more games, coupled with the "traffic lights" it could be a good idea.

I could make some cynical, dry remark involving the words "SI, bugs, lack of progress" but I won't. Easy or difficult to implement, it is something I'd like to see. I'm just trying to be constructive.
