Why can we not directly approach particular clubs over a link? I don't like the way that atm it is just a random exercise of applying to the board & getting a list of possible clubs.
Would it not make sense to approach board & ask to look into possibilty of link with xyz?
Not sure I agree with looking specifically to link with parent clubs, but then again I've been very lucky in getting big parent clubs within the game as it is.
When playing as a big club though, I would perhaps like the opportunity to select a region for my chairman to look for a feeder club. I think this would be realistic.
For example, your thinking that you want to bolster your financial ties in the USA - so you ask the chairman to look for an affiliate there. Also, you want the opportunity to have a feeder club in Africa as a potential source of good youngsters - so you ask the chairman to look for an affiliate in Africa. You want an affiliate where you can send players who can't get a work permit - ask the chairman to find an affiliate with an EU country like Belgium so as to get EU citizenship, therefore bypassing the WP problem.
I would like to see that as well in future versions.
The reason the board go looking for feeder/parent clubs now is because YOU ask them for it, then it would also make sense that they would consider what kind of club you have in mind.
Doesn't mean they would have to be successfull in finding one or finding the best options, which would still prevent a player from getting only money or the best big teams in a couple of seasons, but at least you would have some say in the recommendations you would receive.
I'm not saying you get rid of the existing system, because I think that works well when looking for ventures in other countries, but just add to it.
As manager of Woking getting Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs really isn't that useful to me as most of their reserve players refuse to come on loan to me!! I'd love to be able to target a smaler local club like Reading so that I've actually got a chance of approaching some of their players who are likely to want to spend a season with me
Surprising you could'nt get many players to come to Woking. I managed Hyde United in the BSN, got Man Utd as a parent club and promptly managed to loan 14 players from them, as there's no restrictions in the BSN & BSS.
Best suggestion I can make is keep trying. Also, one thing to bear in mind is that any player who is likely to, or has already made first team appearances of any kind, generally will not come.
I agree about adding to the current system, but like I said, moreso towards the choice of "regions" for bigger clubs to find feeders and affiliates.
The randomness of finding parent clubs is quite realistic, as the chairman would have to work hard to get a link with a big club. Mind you, as far as realism goes, I don't think me getting 14 players on loan from Man Utd to Hyde Utd is the best of examples heh!
isn't there something like this in the game? When i was managing man city, i asked for a feeder club and the board said as i had been there for a while, they wanted me to have a say in the type of club i wanted, so i chose to have a financial link with a club and was offered some clubs in china.

This is true, I've had this happen myself. But some users would prefer something a little more specific. ie. a financial club, and be able to say whether they'd like Japan or USA
Have had some flexibility in the offers whilst managing Man Utd.
Was offered a USA club, a Japanese club and an Argentinian club.
The options do exist, but I think they could be expanded a little insofar as "advising" the chairman you would like a feeder club in a specific region. Example being - ask chairman for a feeder club, have option to specify which region, such as Scandanavia. They return with Scandanavian clubs on offer to select from.
This definately would be a reflection of targeted affiliation deals that clubs do actually initiate.
Tarhetting specific clubs is a no-no, but we should be able to set specifications as to what our preffered options should be.
At present, if we are successful at our club, they will allow us the option of selecting the type of club to look for, which I don't feel is far enough. Personally, I think we should be able to specify the region, and in some circumstances, even specific countries. Whilst this will give us more control, which is needed, it will still leave the decisions in the hand of the board, so they still have the ultimate choice in deciding which clubs are most likely to be suitable.
