I've played FM for many years and have contributed a lot over the years but had a break recently, from FM too. But that changed over Xmas when I took my laptop with me and played FM for now 8 days odd.

Finished my first full season (1st Team, Reserves and full pre-season) and the game is good but has some really annoying things - the main one been cr@p corners! In previous versions and even in real life, quite a few goals come from corners. Flick ons bullet headers etc but it my 90 odd games, I scored a sum total of 8 goals from corners?! How totally un-realistic!!!

Now they aim at the front post and the CB just simply heads it out despite having heading of 20. I'm using my old tactics (modified) from 3 years ago which I took time and effort to tweak to score goals from corners but not this time.

The other major annoyance is selling my players - I have sold the sum total of 2 as Spurs?! I know it's been hard to sell good players in previous versions but TWO? Jenas and Lee went but people like Rocha, Routledge & Tainio are good players and were offered for next to no money. Come on SI isn't it about time to sort this out, as it's stopping me enjoying my game.

Thankfully that's about it and I happened to have had a good season so I got myself enough money to buy the players I wanted but not when I needed it sometimes. Good game otherwise and rant over... :eek:

If you are using the latest patch, then near post flick ons have been tweaked, unfortunately, whilst they are no longer overpowered, they are now useless. Take your players off near post flicks and you should be OK.

As for selling players, whilst I will agree that it has been too hard in the past, now I'd say it's gone the other way and is too easy. I managed to sell Sissoko for nearly double his value. Voronin for slightly more, Benayoun went for his value, Itandje went for slightly higher, as did Arbeloa and Aurellio. All of these players were transfer listed.

There are a few threads that deal with just that. With some tweaking I went from 3 goals from corners in my first season to scoring 11 in my third season. Still not fantastic, but much better. Main point is to remove a player from Near post flick-ons, and to aim for the 6 yard box, where your strongest player (strength, jumping, heading) should be challenging the GK.

Playing as HSV, my centre back just scored a hat-trick of corners in season 4 against fierce rivals Werder Bremen.

I don't have a problem selling players, and I'm playing with lots of active leagues (even Denmark, where I've just sold a 2nd string striker to Silkeborg for 1.2 million euro), so it could be a problem if you only have a few active leagues, say in England and Scotland.

No I have 20 odd leagues so it's not that. I transfer list them and nothing so I offer them out, still nothing.

Someone,somewhere on this board posted details of their corner set up with the new patch. It worked a treat.

As said above, don't put anyone on the near post flick. Keep one player back at all times and spread the others around the different options. I normally stick the ball in the six yard box and see what happens. I always score loads from corners.

P.S. A good corner-taker helps too.

Selling players can be a downer.

Spurs offered me 33 million for Zapater and I agreed straightaway.

I have sold a few players at Millwall, but most of the rubbish ones I inherited (May,Alexander etc.) no-one wanted to buy.

Offering players to clubs seems to be a non starter. I normally set a huge asking price and then stick them in the reserves. When they get the hump someone normally comes in for them at well under the asking price but still more than they are worth.
