I may be too late but I recommend Fiorentina.

There is a lot of youth at the club which you can help develop, it is not the biggest team in Italy but has a solid history and the potential to be up there with the Milans and Juve.

Its an enjoyable challenge which I think everyone should at least try.

It's metionned pretty much every time, but: Athletic Bilbao. You can only ever employ Basque players, so no matter how rich you get, you can never just go and buy the best players.

It's understandably difficult, because people tend to lean towards teams they like or support. The emotional attachment detracts from your enjoyment of the game in some cases.

I know where you're coming from, because I invariably get bored of managing Man Utd after a few years, mostly because i've won everything.

Other side of the coin was playing as Runcorn, when they featured in the playable non-leagues in earlier versions.

What I tend to do is manage teams that I've not got a particular affinity for, especially when I don't know any of their players in the lower leagues.

I'm currently managing Dundee united in the SPL. Closest you could say I've any affinity for them is that I watched them once play Aberdeen on New Years day. Went up for Hogmany. To tell you how long ago that was - Alex McLeish was still playing for Aberdeen, Duncan Ferguson was a youngster!

So have an adventure. Try a club in a country you've never managed in before. Or a non-league team you don't know much about.

you could be quite rite their heathxxx. personally its really hard for me to start with a new team ive never known much about and to try to realize everyones potential and ability can take a stressing while.

however, as to the forementioned post, i think you should start as your favorite team, which u sasid is arsenal, then after winning or making yourself a reputaion, accepting jobs from intriguing teams. for example, im liverpool currently and have won the premiership and a league cup so far, my reputation is gradually growing and my contract ends within two or so months. the board are happy with me and would give me a new contract, but if i feel like ive done enough i might consider other jobs (such as Morrocco, who offered me a job to hopefully get them through the African Cup qualification, and hopefully make a good bid for the finals) but if i feel like theres still more to do at liverpool, ill stay and try and achieve what i can. so basically, its not a good idea to just start new games over and over again everytime u feel bored, you just kinda have to work around a lot and enlarge yyour reputation to world-class. so in the end, hopefully dozens of clubs will put in offers for you at the end of each season. ull find it much more fun that way.

On FM07 I went for a while (well in truth my entire time playing it) whereby I would cheat continually whilst managing the team I support - Liverpool. I'd "Lose a match I should have won easily!" then take it thick and reload and retry until I won - this both nullifying any enjoyment in the game and defeating the point of actually "Managing".

I started countless new games with Liverpool, well and truly documented in the Tactics and Training Forum, to the frustration of Rashidi1, Chopper99, wwfan and God knows how many more.

So one day I finally decided to change direction and choose a different team; one without title credentials and/or massive fan and board pressure, as well as no emotional attachment.

I chose Atletico Madrid and swore to myself not to cheat, just accept whatever the game throws up no matter how much it annoys me. So I did great - 1st season media prediction 9th, we finished 4th. Second season we finished 3rd - the first time I'd ever "Achieved" anything on FM WITHOUT cheating. This single game changed my whole outlook on the game and actually turned me into a "Fanboy", such was my delight. Finally I "Got it".

Dunno why I wrote all that, I suppose my point is to pick a team you've never even given a second thought to, in a country you wouldn't normally manage in, with no real credentials and perhaps a little potential and history.

Fiorentina, Atletico, Monchengladbach, Notts Forest (Really), Aston Villa, Marseille, B. Dortmund...

Teams like that, try to turn them into world-beaters.
