Hi - I have recently started an "Unemployed" game just for fun, and was picked up by German Regional Division North team Lübeck, who I have pushing for a top two place mid way through my first season with them.

However, I noticed two things, first, the division's reigning champions, RW Essen, are still in the division, and secondly, the division's rules view does not have Promotion and Relegation sections like most do.

Which begs the question, if I win the division, do I not get promoted to the Second Division? The above would suggest no, but doing a search of the FM2008 Bug forums and I noticed other people talking about (totally unrelated) bugs but mentioned that teams DO get promoted and relegated between Div 2 and the regionals.

Also confusing - Division 2's rules do have a Relegation section - although they don't state relegated to where!! Just "Bottom four teams are relegated"

So I'm pretty confused, anyway would anyone out there be able to tell me? That way I know whether or not to bother carrying on with this game or start a new one - and also whether to report it as a bug if I cannot get promoted.

I don't really have the answer to your question but I do know that there is a bit of a restructuring in the german system at the end of season one.

There is a new third division created but as I say I'm no expert. You'll need someone with experience in Germany to properly answer the question.

Ah, maybe the restructuring might have something to do with it. Thanks for your help anyway, unless there are any more replies I'll just finish out the season then report my findings here - thanks

Hi Ferrari312, the changes in Germany after the 07/08 season are as follows:

(1) a new 3rd Bundesliga of 20 teams is introduced; the Regional Divisions effectively become 4th divisions.

(2) at the end of 07/08 the top 2 teams of the Regional Division North and South are promoted to the German 2nd Division.

(3) teams finishing 3rd to 10th in each of the Regional Divisions North and South will go into the new 3rd Division.

(4) the bottom 4 clubs from Division 2 will go into Division 3.

(5) the 2 regional divisions will become 3 regional divisions.
