FM7 editing non-league countires, possible to enable regens?
Is it possible through use of the editor, to make grey countries (without leagues) to get regens or what ever the new player function is called?
I tried to do this with the Gambia by editing:-
Reputation to 9550 (hoped this would affect amount of regens created in this country)
population to over 100,000,000
Improved league standard to 14
Economic factor 15
Developing state from third world (in theory better infrastructure)
Game importance to very importance (in theory no 1 sport in the country so more youths playing which should result )
Nation Length 700, Nation Width 7800 & Nation Area 5460000 (part of population)
The 8 clubs from this country I made professional, with youth academies and training all 20.
I then tested the new db in a game but there doesn’t seem to be any creation of regens in the countries/clubs. I also selected south Africa and large db as this might have an impact on my target.
Could one of the creators of the editors please highlight if using the editor makes a difference to the games selection of regens? Or is this hard coded into the game, rendering the editing useless?

I'm not to sure about this but I thought regens just replace retiring players? So if a country doesnt have any players in the first place then it isnt possible to replace them because they dont excist?!?! confusing!

That was in FM2005 or even FM2006. As I understand it they still have those to replace the current data base players (keep players numbers from start of game similar/same). But also added newgens (not sure of terminology) these are the players you get through every season (intake of new youth players).
It must be possible to influence these (newgens) be editing population as the game has got to calculate the amount of newgens its creates from somewhere.

Well, I dunno how it works, but I do know that if you have a feeder club in that country, the feeder club will get regens every season.
But again, I'm not sure how it works for non-feeder clubs, it's most likely random with active nations having an affect. Eg. neighbours of active leagues are more likely to get regens.

I would guess... and hope... that this calculation is based on the distribution of players in the active games database.
So if you were to retain all Gambian players, there should be a better chance of Gambian players being generated through the FRED system.
Those are regens, I know about that. Sorry didn’t know the name of newgens when I created the post.

If not, even when retaining a nations players, over time it may decrease to such an extent that you no longer could manage the national team (if that was your aim for retaining them all).
Might be looking to manage the national team when waiting for FM8. But its more about me being able to sign a few Gambian players/youth during my career game.

I have seen that for some club from Ghana who are a feeder club for Feynoord. That’s the best bet I think, just need to wait on SI editor team to include that in the editor.

Could try creating rivalry between South Africa and Gambia.
