Sorry but whats a hex editor? And where can I find one?

The simplest way around it, is that the league that you're replacing, steal the TLA for that nation. Ie. if the nation you replace is England, change your countries TLA to ENG and change England's TLA, too so it doesn't confuse the game.

The reason for this is because the game uses TLA as the value for the condition of which teams can qualify for Europe, what nation the regens are from and most importantly, which nation the league/cup belongs to.

As for the hex editor questions:

A hex editor is an editor which can change the hexidecimal values of the contents of a file, and you can find them all over the place.

Google is your friend.

Looking at the league setups the Icelandic one has the best structure for my purpose but I dont want the Icelandic last names! I guess I could use the australian one and move it to make it a european country. I looked at the hex thing and it seems something beyond what i can do!

i just wish there was a way to tag regens to a different TLA. I know games are not ment to be worked so much sometimes and everything isnt possible unless you have it all open to you (like the CIV series)

could i do it the long way in the patch.edt file and make a load of my own? I think Ill look into doin this as i dont care about playin the game till its "perfect"

Yes, but again, you'll get Icelandic regens unless you do it with the whole TLA thing.

BTW, if you do the TLA switch, it will not use Icelandic names, because the game will switch the focus from Iceland to your nation, so it will use the names from your country.

Also, not doing the TLA thing will simply cause the game to crash and/or fixtures not to be created.(unless you do it the .edt way, which means it'll be Icelandic regens)

I see there is no way for me to win as switchin the TLA means it adopts the english league system. Northern Ireland is out as that caused the crash with the All Irish cup apparently (I may give it another shot to see if does it this time round, never give up hope )

It is difficult to solve all the probelms without full explaination of my database at it currently is. I have so far got over 200 players into the new country and getting around 800 to it taking from the unattatched players from all the english based nations should give me a large base of players. Plus the regens if i can work out a way to do it that randomizes first names... ill trek again thru the forums. Ta for the help Dave you have been a blessing!!

Well it doesn't need to be English, man. Like you could swap the TLA with Iceland and adopt the Iceland league system. I won't interfere with the names as it will realise that your country has replaced Iceland and use the names from your country. You can do it with any league system, too.

About randomising the names, it'll require you to edit the names in a hex editor. Just like when you delete the Andorran(or whichever country you used) names, there's another value which tells the game how often the name appears in the DB, this number does not have to be like that. Like for instance if you change the number to be the same for all names, the game will automatically randomise the names because this is the value the game uses to identify how often to use the name when making new players.

Hey Dave - any chance you could give me a hand trying to make the egyptian league playable? I've replaced Poland but the game just doesn't display Poland or Egypt when trying to start a new game.
