I just started a new game as Dundee, picked up a 6'7" 15 Stone Dutch striker on a free. Time to batter the 1st Division into oblivion!.

| I would use opposition instructions to limit him. Close down heavily should work.

i usually play a really physical forward as my target man. physical in that, all his physical attributes are relatively even(depending on training etc) and usually 15-17+.
in game, the ai really tries to burst my bubble though. at half time when this guy has a rating of 6 or lower, and i check who's marking him, it's usually the taller/highest jumping opposition DC on him. when i switch my ST's position, after a while the ai switches its DC's as well (is it just me?).
i recently tried telling the target ST to mark the "weaker DC", to keep out of the way of the uber one, which worked decently.
my question is, what are some other possible solutions?

| Warrenwwr, I find that if my targetman is up against a really good DC, I sometimes drop him deeper through setting his mentality more defensive. This can pull his marker out of position and allow my pacey striker to get in the gap. Can't pull him too far back though or he ends up in the midfield. If the DC stops marking him and holds the line, I sometimes switch my TM instrutions to my faster sriker and set it to "run onto ball", basically giving up on hoofing it to the big man. Hope that helps.

| Untick the target man box and play him as a semi-target man. That could help. Marking the CDs will help. Also you could try to swap your strikers.

Ooops...marking the CDs will NOT help, of course. Sorry. |

wwfan, in which category would a deep lying target man fall, i.e. one who is neither quick nor strong? Forwards that I have in mind are basically those who have preferred moves to come deep to get the ball, e.g Del Piero. What would be the best setup for him?
thanks.
