Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

inigo, I can see what your saying but much to my suprise it has only happened a few times against me i find that there are a few solutions when it does happen: push the defensive line as this gives the opposition less space to play or if you bring your wingers back from AML and AMR to ML and MR, when defending they tend to fill the gaps and when you get possesion back the will go back wide to provide good outlets for a counter

p.s indigo, do you know how to upload tactics to fmdownloads?

also another way of preventing the midfield being bare is to put a barrow on the AMC, this also allows him to drop deep to recieve passes from defence a DM's

No, I'm only a newbie... I've just had a knee op so I've got nothing to do for weeks other than play FM - I'm working on a decent 4-2-3-1 tactic now, although it's not easy when you manage Torquay United!

lol i have played as torquay on a lot of other FM games and have found them very hard to manage, good luck ... i think you'll need it with torquay anyway. let me know how it goes,
and i would love any feedback on succesful adjustments to the formation

as promised i will now list my tweaks to my tactic.

Quote:
defensive line: 6-10 ( this is one of my biggest concerns as i have always found d-line hard to judge)
i have changed my D-line to about 13 now as i find pushing up lets you play a better passing game

Quote:
RB:
mentality:6
CF:10
CD:10
tackling:10
FR:10
RWB:1
long shots:1
TB:10
CB:10

LB:
mentality:6
CF:10
CD:10
tackling:10
FR:10
RWB:1
long shots:1
TB:10
CB:10

CB:
mentality:1
CF:1
CD:7
tackling:10
FR:1
RWB:1
long shots:1
TB:1
CB:1

CB:
mentality:1
CF:1
CD:7
tackling:10
FR:1
RWB:1
long shots:1
TB:1
CB:1
now i have changed all my defenders mentality to 5 as it helps them play as more of a unit also i put the FB's on closing down 14 and cross ball mixed and my DC's with closing down 1

Quote:
AML:
mentality:14/15
CF:13
CD:10
tackling:10
FR:20
RWB:20
long shots:1
TB:10
CB:20

AMR:
mentality:14/15
CF:13
CD:10
tackling:10
FR:20
RWB:20
long shots:1
TB:10
CB:20
have changed wingers to forward runs and run with ball mixed as with forward runs on often they were 'stranded from the rest of the midfield and with RWB often they ran straight into opposing full back when there was a better pass on.
