First off can I just say how brilliant yours & wwfan & others threads on Tactics, training are I have learnt a lot as a "newbie" from these
The question I would like answered is this
Do you think it is possible (ever) to set up a tactic for every match that never needs altering whether home or away against strong or weaker teams? Or is this an impossibility
There have been many posters on here who have said that they have 1 tactic, dont change it and are successful, so it can happen. It would seem unlikley, however, that this would reflect real life and/or how to get the best out of the game because no Manager is going to play exactly the same if they are playing against Accrington Stanley at home one week and away to Chelasea the next. I presonally think the way to success is to have up to 3 different tactics using slightly different formations and toggle between them, depending on game conditions and quality of opponents, without actaully calling them home, away etc.
I have used the Minimal Fuss tactic home and away, away at Chelsea and home to Watford without tweaking and had good success, moreso than any other tactic with home and away variations.
Personally i play for fun and dont find the tactics in this version fun, I like sticking to 1 tactic and playing, if the tactic isnt working I change players not the tactic.
Cleon has had amazing success with tweaking but I haven't got the patience, so prefer this type of tactic.
I think its possible. But I also think you have to tweak the tactic during game. Don't expect you can sit at home in a chair, giving players pre-orders before game, expecting a win.
You have to be on the side-line, yelling.... alot!
I always watch game in full from start until I am in control, then its down to extended highlight view.
I used to love the previous versions where I could stick to one formation, know it was reliable and concentrate on the part of the game I love most, picking players and transfers. I did used to tweak in game if we were really struggling but I liked to have faith in the basis of the tactic. With 07 I know I have to adjust it every match, and to be honest I'm not too keen on this. Have actualy fluctuated back to 06 at times because I enjoyed it so much more.
I feel that if your not a fan of the tactical side of the game, then 06 was a much more fun game to play. 07 seems to have over-complicated the whole thing a little. After all, I play it to have fun, not to try and learn the tactical system inside out. No offence to those who try to understand this like wwwfan or cleon but it's not for me. I'd rather stick the 11 players out there, make the neccessary changes at half time and reap rewards after. Then at end of season get down to my real transfer, bringing in the quality youth and watching them grow into stars.
