Basically, I play a 4-4-2 with a diamond midfield and farrowed wingers and whatever tactics, formation, mentality etc. I play I just can’t seem to get a decent win…I can’t beat teams like Arsenal and Chelsea and struggle against sides like Bolton. I’d very much appreciate any help with what mentality to go with, along with defensive line, tempo, width, creative freedom, the whole works basically…

Also, I’d appreciate if you could help me when it comes to if I should play offside, counter attack etc. and should I use a target man?

A dimond formation has never worked for me. I normaly stick to a normal 4-4-2 with all my midfielders playing thru balls often.

Cheers man,maybe i can help you,I see you want to play Man Utd.it's very good because i am experimenting with a tactic for good teams.

I can see you play 4-4-2,diamond,try changing it to a normal 4-4-2.

My tactics,one for attacking and one for defending are preety simple.

ATTACKING TACTIC

At player instructions,in your tactics menu set your GK to the default position.
your Mentalities should be

FB 7
CB 7
MR\l 10
MC 10
ST 13

Creative Freedom

FB 6
CB 5
MR\l 8
MC 8
ST 11

Passing

FB 10
CB 6
MR\l 10
MC 7
ST 5

Closing Down

FB 14
CB 11
MR\l 12
MC 12
ST 11

Tackling all set on mixed except STs ,set them on easy.

Forward Runs
FB and MR\l often
CB rarely
MC mixed
ST mixed

Run Ball
FB and MC mixed and ST too
MR/l often
DC rarely

Through ball

CB rarely
FB,MC,MR/l mixed

Crosses FB and MR/l often the rest on rarely

At team instructions change only TEMPO 6
WIDTH 10
TIME WASTING 6
DEFENSIVE LINE 10
Use tight zonal marking

For the defensive tactic players mentalities should be CB and FB 6
MR/L and MC 8
ST 12
put your strikers on often forward runs
change passing ,players that have 10 change it to 13
Change TEMPO set it to 9,TIME WASTING 8,and D_LINE 11
tick COUNTER ATTACK ON

you can also make more tweaks for forward runs,decrease it for players that are on often set it to mixed

If I'm understanding you correctly, then yeah that helps. Just a questions though, for you or anyone to answer:

When you say CB Mentality = 7 for example, do you mean it is seven to the right from the centre?

mentality or other individual instruction that has a number means the respective number of notches from the beginning of the bar minus one notch because it starts from 1

I tried this tactic and i lost 4 - 0 against West Ham, i'm also Man Utd.
