Interestingly enough Cleon the first d-line I settled on with Arsenal was 6. It just seemed to improve the defence, although it wasn't very obvious as to why.
Never tried the whole differing closing down for centre-backs either. What determines which for you guys- higher anticipation for the presser?
This may have persuaded me to fall back to six again. Especially playing in the Conference.

I feel 6 works better, because its deep but not too deep. It means you don't often get caught out by balls over the top of the defenders. It still happens obviously but not as much. It just felt more 'normal' playing with it on 6 and wasn't as bad as I suspected.
At lower league I feel it is vital to play a deep defensive line, if you are one of the weakest teams with weak defenders. In fact this goes through all the leagues. A deep line seems to make up for the lack of stats at times I feel. But I do play counter attacking, so for the way I play its ideal.
I always have the slowest defender close down the least. Its just a personal preference really

seems to work so I shan't grumble
