| Depends, if im Sheff Utd for example and play a team I should get a result against like Watford, reading etc then I go a fast tempo. Maybe around 14 ish. But if its a big side, like Man U, Chelsea, then I play a lot slower. As if I give them the ball, they will punish me severly.

| Crossing is rarely too, because he doesn't go forward. I like my back 4 to stay back at all times. I could be a lot more adventerous at times, but id rather keep a tight defence and clean sheet at all times.

With the difference in closing down on CB's, do you use tight marking?

It still use Buxton's Swoosh...
I find that it works well enough...
Centrebacks
Mentality 6
CD6
CF 1
Mentality 8
CD 4
CF1
Fullbacks
Mentality 10
CD 13
CF 6
This is where things get interesting...I'm using Merthyr Tydfil so I can speak on behalf of the worst teams LOL. My defensive line is based not on anything else but PACE and anticipation.
I take my centrebacks and average out their pace and then that's the highest my DLine will go. If I went to go any further I do so only if my players anticipation is higher than the DLine.
I've managed to keep quite a few clean sheets in my time. I know there are people who claim that DLine is related to some other factors..but really I'm not convinced there is enough empirical evidence. You'll need to use it with the worst possible teams for that to hold and so far in my experience they have not. I'm more inclined to believe that the Dline can only operate as far as your team can possibly play.
The mentality of the defensive group of players must also fall within the same band. I do think that you can have the whole group on one mentality and then along came a boy called Paul Buxton.
According to our dear friend barrowed fullbacks work..so I decided to give it a shot, cos I do want my fullbacks to fall back deep, but I do not want them to be too defensive...so now I'm barrowing my fullbacks and playing with a bit more mentality.
I already work off a template for my formations with a back 4 and they work whether I'm using Merthyr or using Liverpool

Sometimes, but only is my players are good enough to tight mark the opposition.
Rash - Aye the Nike system still works pretty well, I found myself using it too much, so wanted to try something different |

I created 2 units of players, 5 defensive minded and 5 attack minded. My back 4 and the DMC, all they have to do is defend. The attacking part comes from my midfield and strikers. I find 5 defence minded and 5 attack minded players a good balance. If I wanted I could go 6 attack minded players instead, but atm I don't have the players for that.
My defence minded players play direct passing, so they get the ball from a to b in the fastest possible way.
The DMC is set to stay back yeah, he must stay back at all times to stop counter attacks from the opposition.
