I got Podolski for 5.5m and Richards for 10m and lookin at ronaldo for 25m

How?

Easy

All you need to do is set the clause "after league appearances and set it to 30 games and 40m, as you can only play half a season, you'll never get there but you do get some fantastic players

i like it! Put a 50% sell on clause, you wont sell them in half a season, and you will get them for cheeper to!

It doesn't work for me, it says that "Man Utd do not currently have enough funds to complete the transfer".

I put in a bid for Quaresma for 5 mill, and after 30 league appearances, 40mill and a 50% percentage of next sale.

I currently have 16mill pounds as my transfer budget. Must my transfer budget be big enough for this to work ? Cause if so, it just seems pointless as if I have more than 40m i can just buy the player.

Yeah this won't work since you need the 40m in your account even though it doesn't get taken out.

Adding an amount to be paid after "goals scored" works the same way. A combination of the two tends to work very well
