Currently playing as wigan and in dire need of help with my tactics. heres a rough list of my team....

Gk Kirkland (one of only 2 or 3 playing well)
DL warnock
DR Melchiott
DC Scharner
DC Hall
MR Valencia
ML Koumas
MC Sidwell( season loan)
MC Flamini (season Loan)
MC Johnsonn ( 6.5m from city)
FC Lita (4 M + clauses from reading)

other notable players...

A few crap defenders.. boyce,olembe and bramble
midfield...brown,lanzaat,kilbane,aaritao
strikers,stancu, heskey,agahowa

got a couple of recommended youth plyers in torje and ninis and sent them on loan.

and in january ive got 3 young brazilians coming in, Breno, alex, and mota.

ive tried the tactics ive used at chelsea, villa and man city which where all suscessful with them but none work with this team. but i think the strength of my team is central midfield so ive been trying to play 3 in the middle, and use couter attack with the wingers pushing up to support lita. but no luck yet. lost my first 5 games against man utd, arsenal, chelsea and everton and birmingham, beat middlesborough and then lost at sunderland. so need drastic action. all suggestions welcome on how to get the best out of the team.

Also anyone with experience of the following players, are they good enough for the premiership in the first year??

Breno, alex, sergio motta, stancu, torje, aarlito, ninis.

p.s heskey and agahowa always used to give my defenders a hard time in FM07, in this one neither of them can hit the target to save themselves, or my job... and championship players wont join my team, ie billy sharp and freddy eastwood turned me down.

sorry for double post, forgot to ask, who can i get in also for defence?? think i desperately need a DC and DR in january. hoping breno can go straight into the side, his stats are good enough.

I cant reccomend anyone, just rotate players and that team is good enough for mid table IMO.

yeah i think ive got a deccent team maybe just a bit weak at the back. think what they need is probably a new manager

How much cash do you have to spend???

You wont need a DC mate. Breno is very good and you can put him in there. For your DR needs, get Justin Hoyte. He's 3rd choice there and will be available very cheap. If you cant get afford him for whatever reason, get him on a loan. He's got good stats and is solid defensively.

If you need a striker, you should be able to get Jermaine Defoe for around 4M in Jan. Hes usually available for that price. He's much better than your current first choice Lita. You could also try to loan Walcott from Arsenal. Get him on after 60mins or so and he can do a lot of damage with his pace.

But yeah, you should be able to achieve a mid-table finish with that team.

Use a holding midfielder playing in front of the defense and i would recommend using a deep defensive line especially against quick attacks.
Someone in the Neil Lennon mould, if it is ur first season you could get him from Forest for peanuts!(The computer doesn't play him much)

cheers guys, reckon i have enough cash to get hoyte in for right back in january, and i'll see if i an raise some funds for defoe, problem ive been having is players not wanting to play for me, vagner love and doyle rejected me, as did championship players sharp and eastwood. nobody even wants an offer so then i offer the maximum wages and bonuses etc and they reject me. i hear guys talking about signing savet for there sunderland team but he wont come near me either
