The questions in the title really. Also, once i have extracted it to the correct file, will it work automatically straight away when i start a new game.

Extract the file to anywhere, then find the extracted file and run it and then go through the instructions. The rest is simple.

When you start a new game you have a choice of which databse you wish to use.

Extract it to the desktop. The folder will show up. Click on the patch file within the folder (I forget what it says but it's obvious) and then hit update. It will download and notify you when it installs. Then when you start a new game, just select the 8.01 database. Easy.
