I have no set criteria for squad size. I tend to carry more kids/reserves if my team are in the hgher divisions, but generally I look to a simple theory. Do I have cover at every position? A decent utility player or two makes a big difference to how many players I need.

One thing I don't do is sign everything that moves. I usually run slightly overbudget as it is (I hold the theory of only signing players who are better than what I have sacred), and the whole problem with not being able to select first team squad players for reserve team games means if I carry too many first teamers they get unfit.

I just cut my East Fife first team to 28 players and i'm not overly comfortable with that.

In Cm0304, 23 players were enough for me.

I've just started a new game in the Czech second Division, with a team called Usti nad Labem, as my current game is boring me atm, but I have one problem. Nine players in a squad of twenty are my own. the other 11 (my first team) are in on loan.
