Hi...

One of the guidelines of LLM is that you only can send your scouts to places where your club can tour.

Lets say that a Danish manager took charge of Oxford. Now normaly he would only be able to scout players in the UK and Ireland. But realisticly the manager would have connections in his home country (in our case Denmark) and so could inform his club of potential prospects to be scouted by club staff.

My question: is it ok to send the scouts to the manager's home country?? or is it against SWYCT??

SWYCT, like most LLM guidelines is only a ... guideline. There are those who would adhere to it (I still do, TBH); there are those who see that there are realistic situations which fall outside something like SWYCT.

Agreed, there can be a case to be made for a manager from another nationality who could have contacts in his own home country. But it could also be said that the longer he stays away from his home, so his contacts would diminish...

If you feel that it is realistic within the realms of your game ... then play that way.

The way I see it is that you are sending your employed scouts to a Country. The contacts you may or may not have in Denmark are not detailed as club staff therefore should not be relevant. You would still have to pay for your scouts to go overseas which non league clubs can not afford to do.

This is just my opinion, so if you don't agree then ignore me

Enjoy your game.

No matter where I manage I always put myself down as Scottish.

I also always employ a Scottish Scout to send to Scotland once a season regardless where I'm managing.

It stands to reason that I'd be a "kent face" in Scotland and would have contacts there. The game doesn't allow for that fact, so I think it's relevant and justified to send a scout there...and not use him elsewhere (like the Brazil-Portugal clause)...and have no crisis of conscience signing players recommended by him...IF they'll come.

Is that putting yourself down in the veterinarian sense of the phrase or in the denigrating one?

My take on this - if you start as Danish, you can hire a Danish-speaking scout to scout Denmark. As long as you are not doing that to overcome the LLM guidelines on signing players.

Now if that isn't a valid point.

My take -

Unlike your coaches and physios, your scouts won't necessarily have an office in your stadium and clock in 9-5.

It seems to me perfectly feasible that if you are Danish you'll hire a Danish-speaking Dane who lives in Denmark and scouts his home country.

Just a question of realism here:

Is it realistic that a manager with no experience or reputation would leave their Country and get a job at a LL club?

I can only see this working if you had been successful in your native Country therefore gaining the knowledge of home players and a scouting network.

For me it doesn't seem realistic to start your career as a Dane in England and scout Denmark as you are unlikely to have the contacts at that point.

Not sure if theat makes sense but I know what I am trying to say!!

This is only my opinion, do with it what you will!

Well, there are no rules regarding this point, so do what you think fits best. After all, it's your game, you bought it, and so on....

Browse this forum a bit, there should be a thread about picking manager nationalities and our preferences.
