Congrats on the surprise promotion. Stingy defense will be useful in League 2.

For kfoolmon and other blind people only :

FC Tours - div 2 - 2007/2008

As a recently promoted team, there was no surprise that the main focus was on securing survival. All interested (board, media and fans) agreed and the board gave me a whopping 65k to secure that. As a nice little bonus Tours also recieved 1,4 Million  for the pleasure of seeing "Les Bleus" on telly.

No initial action on the transfermarket as I wanted to see how my current squad did before I acted. We started off quite alright, a win here, a draw there saw us midtable as the new year approached. Then november came and a real slump in form for me, seven games without a win saw me plummet to the 18th spot, just below the saftey net. The lowest moment of the season was losing 5-1 away to Le Mans (two men sent off, Le Mans got two penalties in the space of one minute.) but I knew that things could only get better after that.

As the transfer window opened I brought in one M R for 40 k and one AM/F LC was brought in on loan. We found our winning ways again and started our ascent up towards safer ground. An impressive 17 points in the final seven games saw us finish 7th with the following stats:
38 15 9 14 42 44.

Knocked out of the League Cup at home against Monaco in the first proper round ( won a preliminary round over a fellow div 2 side). That game was watched by some 16354 people, a new club record.

Knocked out of the french cup in the 7th round (first round for us) against some fellow div 2 side.

Moneywise, we are in the black by 2,4 million £.

My MVP has to be our keeper, who picked up a third place in GK of the season award. Special mention also to that 18 year old defender woh got a clla up to the french U-19 team and who played 25 games for me, averaging 7.07

Serbia & Montenegro  won the European Championship, beating Turkey 2-0 in the final.

Looking forward to the next season, I hope we can keep progressing.

if you're still interested, french League cup is only for professional clubs, that means all clubs from Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 (the first two divisions) and the relegated clubs in National (third division) that retain their professional status only one year after being relegated. All other clubs are only semi-pro.

as to the world cup thing, many african players in lower leagues teams are international in their homeland countries, even if they are born and raised in France, actually.

FC Tours 2008/2009

Following last seasons relative success I was really looking forward to the new season. Media, supporters and the board all expected me to "fight bravley against relegation".

The board was generous enough to give me a whopping 700k in transfer funds and the club was again given 1,4 million for TV-rights.

Only two new players brought in at the start of the season, one being the AM/F LC that was brought in on loan last season on a bosman. The other was a D R brought in for 55k.

The season started out alright, a win here, a loss there. By october my form dipped and Tours was sinking deeper and deeper. By the new year, we were in 18th just below the saftey net. Two new players was brought in to help alter things, one DMC for 275k and one S C for 60k. That did not really help, we found it really hard to gain some sort of momentum. Winning one game and then losing three straight games followed by a draw type of form.

I was still quite confident though that we could hang on, with 8 rounds to go we were just three points behind the team above the dropout zone. It came as chock to me then that with four rounds to go, I got the boot. Yup, sacked.
The chairman cited "poor relationship with the staff" as the main reason.

As I only had the french leagues loaded, there was not much else for me to do but to close this game. I applied for a few jobs but apparently my resume was not good enough for any of teams. Bored with just clicking continue, I decided to start afresh but thats another story.

Another crash and burn LLM experience for me. Fun game this...

Sad to see it end. I'm a bit surprised you couldn't land a job with a club in the National at least, but better luck next time.
