kov, don't you think that current situation is a "normal" way of things during transitional economy?
We here have the same thing, though no real improvement is seen yet |

Some days ago, a Russian was given political asylum in Germany, claiming he was member of an opposing political force, fearing Putin's wrath.
Russian government isn't really happy with that, as you can expect. |

No it is not. We are living in a wild capitalism atm. Nobody cares for nothing except that they have their pockets full. If this is the normal way...
Let me explain social situation in Slovenia. We are an EU member. Now, on one hand, you ahve the government claiming: "Prices are not yet European." or "Apparment prices are compared to European." Sure. When a question arose about when our salaries are going to ebcome European we got an answer: "Well we have better salaries then let's say Poland" (not bringing it on anyone, but Poland is not exactly an idelaistic country) or "To have better salaries we must have better economy growth, which happens slowly". Mhm. Why doesn't setting up the prices hapen slowly?
You see. This things never happened before |

Still kov, the personal chances in a socialist regime are for most people...let's say "limited".

No, multi-poof, they are rather determined. At least they were in USSR. A strict line for most, hideous opposition for others.
At 7 you become 'octoberist', at 10 - pioneer, at 18 - 'comsomolist', and then, if you manage to live until 80 - KPSS chairman
Hmm. Did high inflation rates appear after EU, kov, ' coz until that i see them very good for Slovenia, except 1993? The same problems czechs are feared of - prices grow faster than real GDP. What we had until recently.

I can argue with you. Perosonal chances are not "limited", they are possible for those wiht connecitons. But you ahve to ask yourself. Is it really that different now? I am not saying, that socialist regime is and ideal stuff. Far from it. At least social differences weren't that high. Example: A lousy incompetent manager (and I don't mean top notch ones, I really mean lousy incompentent amnagers) has a minimum average salary of 1,5M SIT or 62500 EUR salary/month. I know some people that earn 50K (210 EUR) SIT per month each. Our government is displaying that an average paycheck is somwhere around 1000 EUR. Yes it is, if you are including managers and directors of big companies into it. Otherwise I don't think that it is above 500 EUR. We are talking nett salaries not gross.

Hell, kov  , i wanna be a lousy incompetent manager! Well, i'm not saying i ain't one, but i'm not getting my 60K+ Euros!
It's a 'copy-paste' from Russia (or we - from Slovenia). Privatization, other shiтe - all this increases social diversification.

Let me correct that it is 6250 EUR and not 62500. That would be 15M+.
