2008/09 - Grays Athletic - English Conference South
Have been given 65k transfer budget and am still 8k over my 14k wage budget. So early on in the season sold 2 Ds for 100k combined, which reduced the wage bill somewhat. Unfortunately, it also reduced the defensive power of the team.
Started with a poor run, but then went on a 15-game unbeaten streak, which included too many draws however. Did make it to the 2nd round proper of the FA Cup, losing to Grimsby of League 1. This broke the streak, and we started losing game after game; no scoring whatsoever.
Suddenly, I get informed that the next game is do or die, and I die. Sacked. The fans were still happy with my tenure, but the board got restless and let me go. Oh dear, and that on Boxing Day.
26 Dec 08 - 9 Jan 09: Unemployed
Applied for every job going, including that of A**x (

). To my utter surprise, I was approached by Oldham Athletic of English League 1. Of course, I took it.
2008/09 - Oldham Athletic (English League 1)
575k transfer budget, but only 25k wages

Big staff, but thankfully majority unpaid. The club is, however, 2.3M in the black. I'll soon change that
Decent side apart from defence which is, to be blunt, utter carp. Immediately sent out scouts for better, as my shortlist includes only players that I scouted in my bottom league days.
Hovered down the bottom really all season, until managing to beat Doncaster Rovers 3-1 despite going down to 10 men during the last 10 minutes, due to injury.
The major malfunction of the D appears to be its concentration. I gave up counting the number of points lost in the last 3 minutes; they're just already in the dressing room before the whistle goes.
Manage to get out of the bottom 4 places for about 2 weeks, but due to the fact that my players are getting injured by the buss load, and if they're not injured they are too tired to play, I drop back quickly after that, and go down in 23rd place.
However, new for me, I don't get sacked! Now to see if we can go straight back up next year.
Elsewhere, Chelsea win the Quad: League, Cup, League Cup and Champions League.
Bayern München win the domestic double, Feyenoord (:thup

retain their title, as do Celtic. AC Milan dethrone Roma and also win UEFA Cup.
