Default mid season break

in my first year with fc sion. (this is not an update, i know there is a 3 season rule)

just got to december and was clicking away when i thought that i hadnt played a match in a while.

clicked on next fixture - 90 days away, i didnt realise there was a 3 month winter break, and that all matches are played on fridays not weekends.

what do teams do during this time? train hard, rest, tour?

never come across this before.

should have checked league rules first. doh!

In many leagues there's a winter break. Time for holiday (December mainly), regeneration, indoor tournaments, friendlies training.

I've come across this before when playing as FC Bulle in Switzerland. I think I just trained my players as normal during the break then arranged a couple of friendlies against non-league teams before we recommenced. Seemed to do the trick as I achieved promotion (I'm not bragging I swear.

Do they still have that thing were you play teams twice in a row and there is a bonus point if you win the two-legs outright, and penalties to decide if its a draw. I was really dissapointed that I went a whole season without going to penalties once.

Yeah, common for countries with 'Autumn-Spring' formulae and bad climate (e.g. Ukraine).

Rus also has a mid-season break, for a month or so. Used for nothing. In spring teams play in swamps, and during summer we don't want to play on good pitches. Bucha'bustas.

in some parts of Russia, playing in summer wouldn't do because it's too hot. Bloody climate with -50 in winter and +50 in summer.

The swedish leagues are worse.

5/6 month between seasons.

Yes, but (luckily) most teams in premiership base in territories with "normal" climate

They just say there must be a break, and that's all.

Germany has a long winter break too.

I onced got sacked because I was sitting in 14th over the winter break, and had on games to improve my position which the board were asking for!

it's realistic though. Winter break is a great time to sack managers because a new manager in place has enough time to prepare the team for the upcoming second half of the season.

Ah, is that why the UK doesn't want to have one?
