Invictus is infamous around these parts
Default Cambridge and Beyond

Afternoon all

Started my LLM career with Cambridge in English L2 (I know its not right at the bottom, but I am running the game on my laptop and its slow enough as it is).

Season 04/05 Cambridge L2

Decent sized squad AMC and SC both class and consistently perform above expectations. Transfer budget of £10k wages overbudget by £5k pw. Safe mid-table position expected.

Outperform all expectations and leading the table for two months around Christmas, realise when key injuries come in that the squad is overweight and paper thin in terms of quality. Sign players to cover on frees but bring wages up to £10k pw. Difficult to sell players.

Crash down to earth at the end finishing in 10th place.

Season 05/06 Cambridge L2

Release a lot of players due to not renewing contracts bring wage bduget down to £3k pw over. Signed a couple of free players to provide cover.

Much more consistent this time round, hover around the play offs all season and come into a good run of form right at the end to finish 3rd and automatic promotion. Star SC wants to move to a bigger club.

Season 06/07 Cambridge L1

Battle bravely against relegation is the instruction something which we can't meet. Star SC leaves after playing one game but managed to get a fee of £600k. Two months in get frustrated by players, lack of budget and lack of transfer funds so resign.

Two days later...

Season 06/07 Burnley L1

Club sits in 11th, board and fans want safety. £3k pw over wage budget but have transfer funds of £800k. Squad is small and paper thin so scouts are on overtime.

Surprising quality in the squad though we never go below play offs until last two games of the season where we need other teams to lose or draw. Fortunately they both fail to win and we draw MK Dons in the play off semi finals.

Draw first game 0-0 but despite having 23 shots on target and stupid amounts of the ball we go down 0-1. Board and fans happy though.

Thats where I'm up to at the moment.

Invictus... Do you have a 486 or Pentium 1 processor?

No. Then please take into notice that L2 doesn't count for LLM. It was OK in CM3 and CM4, when Conference N/S was not included in the game. Now Conference National is somwhere on the dege. Going up the league is pushing it. Please, see this topic, and you'll see what I am talking about.

He said, he's playing it on his laptop, and those usually aren't as powerful as workstations, especially when they're older. I agree, it's pushing the limits of LLM (maybe try adding the Conf national at least and reducing the database size, Invictus, or try a country with less leagues?) but in this case I don't see why anyone should jump on him.

Correct running on my laptop and small database, the laptop cannot handle the additional Conference N/S leagues it just plain out fell over. This is the best that my machine will give me.

If this topic is not acceptable then it should be closed, if it reamins open then I will update. I have no intention of opening a two page debate that was on the link.

Sorry Kov, I'm with the 'Cultural Expert' on this one. I too play on a laptop, with a pretty good spec, and it is worse than toilet. I play all English leagues and the 2d matches are really jumpy to the point that I don't actually enjoy playing FM at the moment!

Invictus, I am happy to read your updates as long as the mods allow them. I assume you are following LLMs guidlines in a sensible manner.

Stan... I play FM on Pentium 3 with 866MHz and 512 MB of RAM. Now I somehow presume that your laptop is way better and that jumpy 2d screen has something to do with your graphics card.

Still kov - in dubio pro reo. This Invictus guy posted a decent update as far as I can see, and he even knows that L2 is pushing it, and he explained why he had to do it nevertheless.

Personally, I'd be happy if more people would be sensible like that, and if there's something wrong with this update going on, I believe that it's the mods who should decide.

Good point about the graphics card!!

I still think that this guy should be allowed to post his updates. He hasn't tried to argue about the rules and guidelines of LLM and is a breath of fresh air given the recent influx of plurks!

LLM is a way of playing the game. It isn't just about where you start. Invictus has made a decent effort there., IMO.

Yes, we all know L2 isn't ideal, but it's a question of what your computer can handle in a manner that's fast enough so you still enjoy the game. If someone has tried lower and their computer couldn't do it, we should not be excluding them from LLM. Not all of us have your legendary patience, kov

Welcome, Invictus. KUTGW
